LEARNINGS

The training I had in the Philippine Ports Authority PMO Masbate is learning that was the best so
far. I was assigned to finance division with my co- trainee Jimel. I was scared and nervous at first
because I don’t have any idea what working environment I should meet. We are assigned on
actual work on that division.

My first week was hard because of adjustments but with the help of the employees we are able to
adjust. They patiently teach us the things we are not familiar with and they willingly help and
attentive to answer our questions. They are very approachable and easy to get along. I familiarize
the documents prepared by the finance division including the financial reports, attachments of
payment requests documents, purchase request and purchase order and many more documents.
The finance division are assigned to collect the daily collections in the base port and as well as
the reports of other ports in Masbate including Port of Cawayan, Aroroy and Claveria either
weekly or monthly reports. They also teach us how to use equipment that are usually used in the
office.

In the second week of my OJT training, I become sociable and adjust myself in the environment
where I am working at and who I am working with because they make us comfortable and they
treated us as one of them.

In my more than 3 and a half months staying in port of Masbate, I learned many things, I
encounter many experiences not only to the things related to my course but also to the things that
I think I will excel. As I was working as a trainee, I learned to become a hard-working person, I
learned to manage my time properly because there are instances that there are lots of reports that
should be submitted and needed to be done immediately. We extract extra effort of what we are
doing. The time to finish the task assigned to me is very important and if I finish it correctly, I
feel happy and productive at the same time. I also realize the importance of words and terms
discussed in school because some were used in thew company specially those terms relating to
financial accounting. I also learned to listen and follow instructions before taking actions to
avoid problems. I also learn to accept failure and mistakes that leads to learning new things
because I believe that “there are many rooms for improvements.”
After the training, I’ve come to realize that training is not just a requirement that need to be
completed but it is also a responsibility and as well as opportunity to showcase our skills, talents,
knowledge and how we act and interact with other people.
Aside from learning and experience I had relating to my course this training allowed me to get to
know and acquainted with PPA PMO Masbate. It was one of the best happened along with my
training. I was grateful to know and meet amazing individuals. I will never forget them. To port
manager Atty. Oliver S. Rodulfo Jr., to our finance manager Ma’am Cirela O. Masareta who
warmly welcomed and helped us, to all the employees of finance division ma’am Noemi, Ma’am
Rosarita, Ma’am Charlene, Sir Arnold, Ma’am Charisse and especially to Ma’am Crystel and
Ma’am Quisha who helped and molded us to become the best version of ourselves their words of
wisdoms and piece of advises will surely never be forgotten. I am very thankful to them. They
are all amazing and inspiring. I really had fulfilled my 600 hours duty and I am looking forward
to be working with them not just as a trainee anymore but as employee someday. Thank you.
