• General Instructions for PT-1 Evaluation:


• It’s compulsory to give all internal evaluations.
• Evaluations will be conducted during the school hours.
• The regular schedule will be continued after each evaluation.
• Students cannot take any half /full day leave during their evaluation.
• In case of any medical issue, parents must submit the medical certificate issued by
• a Registered Medical Practitioner to the class teacher.
• Retest of any internal evaluation will not be conducted.

38. Binary describes a numbering scheme in which there are only two possible values 6
for each digit -- 0 or 1 -- and is the basis for all binary code used in computing
systems. These systems use this code to understand operational instructions and user
input and to present a relevant output to the user.
The term binary also refers to any digital encoding/decoding system in which there
are exactly two possible states. In digital data memory, storage, processing and
communications, the 0 and 1 values are sometimes called low and high, respectively.
In transistors, 1 refers to a flow of electricity, while 0 represents no flow of
electricity. The binary numbering system was refined in the 17th century by

The Cholas were a powerful kingdom in the South of India, whose influence extended
beyond their territorial domains. They played an active part in the Hindu cultural
influence seen today in southeast Asia. The Cholas are believed to have overthrown
the Pallavas in south India. They became prominent in the 9th century and established
an empire comprising the major portion of South India. They also extended their
control in Sri Lanka and the Malay peninsula and are thus called ‘Imperial Cholas’.
Thousands of inscriptions found in the temples provide detailed information
regarding the administration, society, economy and culture of the Chola period. The
founder of the Imperial Chola line was Vijayala. The Chola state was organised into
territorial administrative units. There was standardised taxation. The village
assembly was central to the Chola administration. Royal officials did participate in
the village assembly but only as advisors and observers. The village assembly
enjoyed a fair amount of self-governance. Large villages were divided into smaller
divisions, each with a smaller assembly representing its households. People
practising the same profession started staying near each other. So, assemblies came
to control production. The function of these assemblies differed according to the local
conditions. Members comprised of adult males and heads of households in the
village. Sometimes they formed a small executive body for taking decisions on
routine matters. The Sabha had the same system and, in addition, could constitute
committees from amongst its members for specialised work.
Villages were grouped together under a nadu. Nagarams were centres of exchange
and came within the nadus.
A group of nadus formed valanadus and a number of valanadus made mandalams.

30. Explain with an activity that only green plants possessing chlorophyll can 4
photosynthesis.

Cotton is grown in the fields. Cotton plants are usually grown at places having black
soil and warm climate. The fruits of the cotton plant (cotton bolls) are about the size
of a lemon. After maturing, the bolls burst open and the seeds covered with cotton
fibres can be seen. A cotton field that is ready for picking, looks like a field covered
with snow. From these bolls, cotton is usually picked by hand. Fibres are then
separated from the seeds by combing. This process is called ginning of cotton.
Ginning was traditionally done by hand. These days, machines are also used for
ginning. Jute fibre is obtained from the stem of the jute plant. It is cultivated during
the rainy season. In India, jute is mainly grown in West Bengal, Bihar and Assam.
The Jute plant is normally harvested when it is at flowering stage. The stems of the
harvested plants are immersed in water for a few days. The stems rotund fibres are
separated by hand.
