PEPPERMINT
Peppermint oil is under preliminary research for its potential as a short-term
treatment for irritable bowel syndrome.
According to German Commission Emonographs, peppermint oil (as well as
peppermint leaf) has been used internally as an antispasmodic (upper
gastrointestinal tract and bile ducts) and to treat irritable bowel syndrome,
catarrh of the respiratory tract, and inflammation of the oral mucosa.
Peppermint oil may also act as a carminative, chalagogue, antibacterial and
secretolytic, and it has a coding action. Externally, peppermint oil has been
used for muscle pain and nerve pain.
Enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules (Colpermin) have been used as an
orally administered antispasmodic premedication in colonoscopy. The capsules
were found beneficial in reducing total procedure time, reducing colonic
spasm, increasing endoscopist satisfaction and decreasing pain in patients
during colonoscopy.
LEMON
1. 1.Mehiere’s disease. There are some reports that a chemical in lemon
called eriodyctiol glycoside might improve hearing and decrease
dizziness, nausea, and vomiting in some people with Meniere’s
disease.
2. Kidney stones. Not having enough citrate in the urine seems to
increase the risk of developing kidney stones. There is some
evidence that drinking 2 litres of lemonade throughout the day can
significantly raise citrate levels in the urine. This might help to
prevent kidney stones in these people.
3. Treating scurvy. Scurvy is a condition caused by a lack of Vitamin C.
Lemon can provide some missing Vitamin C.
4. The common cold and flu.
5. Decrease swelling.
6. Increasing urine
