Birth of shivaji
Shivaji, born in 1630, emerged as a legendary Maratha
warrior and the founder of the Maratha Empire in
Western India. His birth marked the beginning of a
remarkable journey that would shape the course of Indian
history. Raised amidst the turbulent times of Mughal
dominance, Shivaji's vision and leadership led to the
establishment of a sovereign realm known for its
administrative innovations and military prowess. His birth
anniversary is celebrated as Shivaji Jayanti, honoring his
enduring legacy as a symbol of courage and resilience.
Shivaji's Conquests
Shivaji is known as the father of the Indian
Navy due to the huge and competent fleet
which he produced during his reign.
Shivaji launched Southern conquests in
Khandesh, Bijapur, Karwar, Kolhapur, Athani,
Karnataka, Vellore, Gingee and Mysore.
In 1646, Shivaji took the Torna Fort, taking
advantage of the confusion prevailing in the
Bijapur court due to the ailment of Sultan
Mohammed Adil Shah.
He also brought areas east of Pune around
Supa, Baramati, and Indapur under his direct
control.
He used the treasure found at Torna to build a
new fort named Rajgad.

Shivaji's death occurred on April 3, 1680, in Raigad,


Maharashtra, India. His passing was a turning point
for his empire and the region as a whole. With his
demise, the Maratha Empire faced internal
challenges and power struggles, which eventually
led to a decline in its influence.
