E-JOHNS PORTAL USER GUIDE

This guide is designed to help St John’s High School students,parents and guardians to access

assessment reports. There are 2 options available, that is, WhatsApp assisted and self-service.

Option 1: WhatsApp-Assisted service.

This service must only be used ONCE and is available from 0830 TO 1500HRS WEEKDAYS ONLY.

Alternatively, you can use the self-service option.

1. Every student has an account on the school portal https://online.stjohnsemerald.ac.zw

Open the webpage https://online.stjohnsemerald.ac.zw in any browser of your choice (Chrome /

Edge / etc).

Enter username and password

2.Every student portal is secured and can only be accessed using a username and password.
If not sure of username and password, send a WhatsApp message “portal username and

password for [Surname Name Class]” to 0773150473 to receive portal credentials.

3. Use the Username and password sent to access your portal.

Select Sign in

You have successfully logged into your portal

4. The password you have received is temporary. You may need to change the password.

To change the password, go to the top-right of your portal screen and select your username.

A user profile screen is displayed.

On current password, enter the temporary password received.

On New password, enter your own password and repeat it on Re-enter password.

Select Update.

After updating, password you received is no longer valid and you will be directed to the login
window.

5. If the Results option is not showing in the student portal, check clearance issues displayed in the

portal Home section.

Student clearance issues may include Fees, Textbooks and Library issues.

ALL clearance issues are solved at the school.

Option 2: Portal self-service.

Using this service, the portal username and password will be automatically generated and

recovered from the school-based email address.

1. If not sure of username and password, select on Forgot password? (bottom right corner)

2. Every student has a school-based email address used to recover portal username and address.

The email address is in the format: surname.firstname@stjohnsemerald.ac.zw

e.g xyz.abc@stjohnsemerald.ac.zw where xyz is surname and abc is first name

3. On the Account Recovery screen, enter the school-based email address and select Proceed

A confirmation will be displayed showing that an email with login has been sent to the entered

email address.

After a confirmation has been sent, select Login Page to go back to the Login screen

4. If the following massage is displayed, double-check the entered email address.

The school-based email may be incorrect , the email is in the format or the student detail are not
configured properly in our system. Many users usually misspell stjohnsemerald as stjohnsemarald or
stjohnsemeraldhill.

If the email address is correct but still receiving the error message shown above, send a WhatsApp
message to 0773277576 in the format

Student Full Name and Class_Query Invalid email address

5. Open another tab to access your email. Enter the url https://outlook.office.com/mail

Enter school-based email address

Select Next

Enter your password.

ERROR NOTICE 1: If not sure of the email password here, send WhatsApp message to 0773277576 in
the format

You will receive a reset password to use to access email. Enter received password.

Select Sign in

Select Next

You will be asked to set up a phone number.

Select Zimbabwe (if in Zimbabwe and using Zimbabwean mobile number) and enter a reachable
phone number.
Select text me.

You will instantly receive a text message (SMS) with a 6-digit code from Microsoft®.

Enter the 6-digit code and select verify.

NOTE: This phone number will be used when you have forgotten, or you wish to change your email
password.

Select Finish

On whether to stay signed in?, you can select Yes or Not depending on your preference.

You have successful accessed your recovery email.

Check for the latest recovery email from portal@glab.co.zw

If the recovery email message is not in the inbox, Open the Junk Email folder

Use the Username and password in the email to access your e-johns portal.

Changing Portal Password
The password you have used is computer generated and is complex to remember. To change the
password, go to the top-right of your portal screen and select your username

A user profile screen is displayed.

On current password, enter the password received from email

On New password, enter your own password and repeat it on Re-enter password.

Select Update.

After updating, you can now delete the email from glab, the computer-generated password you
received is no longer valid.

Common errors encountered when accessing reports online
For prompt assistance, include the specified query formats in this guide.

1.

The entered username does not exist. Double-check the entered username. It must be one word
with no spaces. Go to Forgot password? and follow the necessary steps mentioned above. The
username will be shown in the email.

2.

The entered password is wrong. Check if caps lock is switched on or not to ensure you are using the
correct caps. If you have forgotten the password, Go to Forgot password? and follow the necessary
steps mentioned. The password will be reset.

Wrong password has been entered more than 3 times. Go to Forgot password? and follow the
necessary steps mentioned. The password will be reset and account will be automatically enabled.

The school-based email is wrong, the email is in the format surname.name@stjohnsemerald.ac.zw.


Many users usually misspell stjohnsemerald as stjohnsemarald or stjohnsemeraldhill.

If the email address is correct but still receiving the error message shown above, send a WhatsApp
message to 0773277576 in the format

If a confirmation email has been sent but outlook displays this message:

• Check if the email address is the correct one, if not, make the necessary corrections.

If the email address is correct, it means the email address has not been set up properly.
send a WhatsApp message to 0773277576 in the format:

Student Full Name and Class_Query Invalid email address

6. For missing subject marks, unregistered sports and clubs, kindly contact the student’s respective
class teacher.

7. If the Results option is not available, check clearance issues. All clearance issues are addressed
physically at school.

8. For other errors not mentioned, kindly send a WhatsApp message to 0773277576 in the format
Student Full Name and Class_Query Detailed error encountered

Example:
Xyz Abc 4R_Query The report has wrong student class
