ORDER

1. This matter has been received on transfer from the Hon’ble

Supreme Court and it relates to prevention, control and abatement of

pollution of River Ganga. The Tribunal in the order passed earlier on

22.07.2022 had taken note in detail the facts and figures and the issues

which need to be focused.

2. Having regard to the nature of issues involved and the fact that as

many as five States are involved through which the river Ganges flows i.e.

Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, we

intend to take up the matter State-wise so that detailed examination of

the issues will be possible.

3. Hence, we intend to list the matters in respect of consideration of

the issue relating to the States in the following manner:

i. Uttarakhand on 04.09.2023
ii. Uttar Pradesh on 11.09.2023
iii. Bihar and Jharkhand on 18.09.2023
iv. West Bengal on 25.09.2023

4. When the matter is taken up State-wise, we will also be going into

city wise issues within that State.

5. We have also taken note of the report of the Oversight Committee

dated 11.08.2023, report of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)

dated 15.08.2023 and compliance report of UPPCB dated 25.08.2023.

The parties are permitted to refer to the same when the matter is taken

up State/City wise.

6. Let Notice be issued to the concerned States who are not

represented today.

7. List the matter for consideration of the issue relating to

Uttarakhand on 04.09.2023.
