TENSION (GAUGE) ABBREVIATIONS


18 Stitches and 8 rows measured over 10cm, 4in of UK treble beg = beginning; ch = chain; cm = centimetres;

It is vitally important to check your tension (gauge) before
starting as working to the wrong tension (gauge) will mean
your garment will not be the size shown and could result
in yarn being left over, or more yarn being required. Before
beginning, crochet a tension (gauge) swatch at least 13 cm,
5 in, square and measure your tension (gauge). If there are
more stitches and rows than stated, try again using thicker
hook. If there are fewer stitches and rows than stated, try
again using thinner hook.

FRONT & BACK MAKING UP
Both alike and worked from bottom upwards in rows. Work the seaming with ws facing, using A.
With A, make 85 [91: 94: 100: 103: 109] ch.
row 1 (rs) 1 tr (dc) in 3rd ch from hook and each ch to end, turn. Shoulder Seams: Place front and back rs together and,
83 [89: 92: 98: 101: 107] sts. working from the top outside edge inwards, ss together
row 2 2 ch (does not count as st here and throughout), 1 tr 17 [19: 20: 22: 23: 25] sts at each side, leaving a neckline

row 3 and 4 as row 2.
Break off A and join in B. Side Seams: On each side, working from the top down, miss

to twist ch, join with a ss to form a ring, turn.
round 1 (rs) 2 ch (does not count as st here and throughout),
1 tr (dc) into each ch to end, ss to top of first st at beg of
round, turn. 84 [87: 90: 93: 96: 99] sts.
round 2 2 ch, 1tr (dc) into each st to end, ss to top of first st at
beg of round, turn.
rounds 3 and 4 as row 2.
Break off A and join in B.
round 5 4 ch (counts as 1 tr (dc) and 1 ch here and
throughout), 1 fc over sts 2 and 4, *2 ch, 1 fc starting in next
st, rep from * to end, 1 ch, ss to 3rd ch of 4 ch at beg of round,
turn. 84 [87: 90: 93: 96: 99] sts, 27 [28; 29: 30: 31: 32] 2 ch, 1 fc,
patt rep plus 1 ch and starting 4ch.
round 6 4 ch, 1 fc over 1 ch and 2 ch sps, *2 ch, 1 fc starting in
the same 2 ch sp and working into the next 2 ch sp, rep from
* ending last fc in 4 ch, 1 ch, ss to 3rd ch of 4 ch at beg of
round, turn.
Round 7- 19 as round 6.
