Construction Method Statement for RCC Sewerage Pipeline

Site Preparation
Clear the construction area of any debris, vegetation, or obstacles that may hinder the excavation
process.

Mark the alignment of the sewerage pipeline on the ground to provide guidance for the excavation.

Resources Required
 RCC Sewerage Pipes: High-quality precast or cast-in-place reinforced concrete pipes of specified
dimensions and strength.
 Bedding Material: Suitable granular material such as sand, gravel, or crushed stone for
providing stable support to the pipeline.
 Backfill Material: Approved granular material for backfilling the trench after pipe installation.
 Joint Materials: Depending on the pipe type, joint materials such as rubber gaskets, mortar, or
other suitable materials for securing pipe joints.
 Compaction Equipment: Vibratory rollers, plate compactors, or other suitable equipment for
compacting bedding and backfill materials.
 Manhole Components: Cast-in-place components for constructing manholes, including base
sections, riser rings, cover slabs, and steps.
 Safety Equipment: Personal protective equipment (PPE), warning signs, barriers, and other
safety gear as per project requirements.

Manpower Required
 Excavation Crew: Skilled workers for excavating trenches as per the specified dimensions and
alignment.
 Pipe Installation Team: Trained workers for lowering, aligning, and jointing the sewerage pipes
in the trenches.
 Bedding and Backfill Crew: Workers to place and compact the bedding and backfill materials as
per project specifications.
 Manhole Construction Team: Skilled labor for constructing manholes, including assembling
components and ensuring structural integrity.
 Quality Assurance Team: Personnel responsible for conducting quality tests and inspections
throughout the installation process.
 Site Supervisor: An experienced supervisor to oversee the entire installation process, coordinate
activities, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
 The specific quantity and skill level of manpower required may vary based on the scale of the
project, the complexity of the installation, and local regulations. Additionally, the availability of
machinery and equipment may influence the required manpower.
Excavation
Excavate trenches along the marked alignment to the required depth and width, ensuring the
dimensions comply with the design specifications.

Maintain stable side slopes and protect against cave-ins using shoring, sheeting, or trench boxes as
necessary.

Bedding
Place a 150mm thick layer of granular material at the bottom of the trench, compacting it to the
specified density.

Ensure that the bedding material is leveled and graded to provide support for the sewerage pipeline.

Pipe Installation
Lower the precast or cast-in-place RCC sewerage pipes into the trench, maintaining the required
gradient and alignment.

Ensure proper jointing of pipes using suitable joint materials and methods such as rubber gaskets or
mortar.

Backfilling
Gradually backfill the trench with approved granular material, compacting it in layers not exceeding
150mm in thickness.

Ensure thorough compaction using suitable compaction equipment to achieve the specified compaction
density.

Manhole Construction
Construct manholes at specified intervals along the sewerage pipeline, ensuring they are designed and
built in accordance with the project requirements.

Install manhole components, including base sections, riser rings, and cover slabs, using high-strength
mortar for secure connections.

Protection and Site Cleanup

Protect the installed pipeline from damage due to construction activities or external factors by
implementing suitable measures such as warning signs and barriers.

Remove surplus materials, debris, and equipment from the site, leaving it in a clean and safe condition.
As-Built Documentation

Prepare accurate as-built drawings and documentation, detailing the actual installation dimensions,
pipeline deviations, and any modifications made during construction.
