A General provisions

With the general building inspection test certificate, the applicability of this type of construction
according to the Federal Construction Code has been demonstrated.

The general building authority test certificate does not replace the legally required approvals,
consents and certificates for the execution of construction projects.

The general building inspection test certificate is issued without prejudice to the rights of third
parties, in particular private property rights.

Without prejudice to further regulations in the "Special Provisions", manufacturers and operators
of the object must provide the user of the object with copies of the general building inspection
test certificate and point out that the general building authority test certificate must be available
at the place of use. Upon request, copies of the general building inspection test certificate must
be made available to the authorities involved.

The general building inspection test certificate may only be reproduced in its entirety. Any partial
publication requires the approval of the testing laboratory. Texts and drawings of advertising
material may not contradict the general building inspection test certificate. Translations of the
general building inspection test certificate must include the note "Translation of the German
original version not checked by the testing laboratory".

The general building inspection test certificate is issued revocably. The provisions of the general
building inspection test certificate may be supplemented or amended subsequently, in particular
if new technical knowledge so requires.

B Specific provisions

1 Subject and scope

1.1 Subject

The type listed in this general building inspection test certificate is accident-proof glazing
according to DIN 18008-4 in accordance with Building Regulations List A Part 3 no. 2.12. The
inclination of the glass pane can be +/- 10° to the vertical. In addition, the railing to the exposed
side may be arbitrarily inclined (by the glazing and side exposed to the traffic area, the spanned
angle is less than 80°}

1.2 Scope of application

The design may be used as accident-proof glazing of category B according to DIN 18008-4.

1.3 Use restrictions or notes

The design must not be used to brace other components. The components to which the design
is connected must be sufficiently load-bearing, as well as able to absorb and dissipate the effects
of static and impact-like stresses. The discs must have a load-distributing handrail at the top or
alternatively an edge protector.

2 Regulations for the type

2.1 Properties, characteristic values

With regard to the starting materials used, DIN 18008-4 Section 4 must be observed.

2.1.1 Glass panes

The glass panes are made of laminated safety glass with the structure according to the
information in the appendix "Glass structure"

The dimensions of the glass panes are the sketches for each installation situation
"Application on inclined surfaces / stairs" and "Glass structure" can be found on the following pages.
The arrangement of the discs in relation to the profile can also be found in the following sketches.

The following minimum breaking stress applies to the type of glass used:
Float 45 N/mm2
TVG 70 N/mm2
ESG 120 N/mm2

The interlayers made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) must have the following mechanical properties at 23°C.:
Tensile strength: > 20 N/mm2
Fracture elongation: >250%

Laminated safety glass with PVB film is a construction product according to Building Regulations
List A Part 1 no. 11.14. The properties required there must be certified accordingly.

Instead of the PVB film, other regulated or officially approved composite materials with
comparable or better mechanical properties and properties such as ionomer composite layers
(SGP), ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), among others, may be
used.

Composite foils may be coloured or printed according to the relevant approval, harmonized standards or
general building inspectorate approvals, whereby the chosen method must not impair the mechanical
properties of the glass.

2.1.2 Glass mounting

The disc is clamped at the bottom in the aluminium profile "BALARDO-core", "BALARDO hybrid" ,
"BALARDO-smart" or "BALARDO-corehd". The aluminium profiles are fastened with Fischer FH II
12 dowels or equivalent in reinforced concrete or with M8 screws to steel structures. The clamping
profile and all other components of the clamping are described on the following pages.

2.2 Load capacity under impact

The load-bearing capacity under impact was demonstrated in the expert opinions
[1] to [5]. The proof is provided for impact-like effects.

3 Proof of conformity

3.1 General information

The type listed in this general building inspection test certificate requires, according to
Building Regulations List A Part 3 of the proof of conformity, a declaration of conformity of
the user (contractor).
The contractor must submit a written declaration regarding the conformity of the type of construction
with the general building inspection test certificate to the client.
A corresponding sample is attached as an appendix to this general building inspection test
certificate.

3.2 Production checks

At each production site of the type, a production check has to be initiated and carried out.
Production checking means the continuous monitoring of production to be carried out by the
contractor, with which he ensures that the type of construction he produces complies with
the provisions of this general building inspection test certificate.

The results of the production checking are to be recorded and evaluated. The records must
contain at least the following information:

Description and verification of the starting materials and of the constituents.

Identification of the type or starting materials and of the constituents. Type of
check or testing
Date of manufacture and testing of the type or starting material or components
Result of checks and inspections and, as appropriate, comparison with requirements
Signature of the person responsible for the production control

The records must be kept for at least five years. They are to be submitted to the responsible
highest building supervisory authority on request.

In the event of a negative test result, the user must immediately take the necessary
measures to remedy the defect. Types that do not comply with the requirements must be
handled in such a way that confusion with the corresponding ones is excluded. Once the
defect has been rectified, the relevant test must be repeated without delay, as far as
technically possible and to prove that the defect has been remedied.

4 Provisions for design and dimensioning

The type is to be measured according to DIN 18008-4 section 6.1 for the respective installation
situation.

5 Instructions for the design

The design must comply with the information specified in section 2.1.

6 Provisions for use, maintenance and servicing

The object must be regularly cleaned and maintained to ensure its function.
The condition of the object must be checked at regular intervals, Damaged parts must be
replaced at short notice. Only parts that comply with this general building inspection test
certificate may be used for replacement.
Furthermore, with regard to use, maintenance and servicing, the manufacturer's instructions
must be observed.
