1 SURVEY SUMMARY
A Platform Debris Survey of ABSF 81/89, 98 was carried out by Karan-8 under survey
work order number SWO 8000507984 on the 30th July 2012.
2 METHOD OF SURVEY
The area was surveyed with the Reson 8125 multibeam echo sounder and Klein 3000 side
scan sonar over a 400m grid centred on the platform.
Survey lines were planned 330°/150° to align with the reported platform orientation.
Multibeam and Side scan sonar were recorded. The side scan sonar coverage was collected
at 75m and 50 meter range scale.
Observed tidal data for ABSF 30/35,138/139 permanent tide gauge station was used for
bathymetry reduction to LAT.
Accurate horizontal SDGPS positions from Fugro-XP system were used throughout the
survey.
For final chart presentation all collected positions are transformed to Ain Al Abd 1970
Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 39, International Spheroid.
3 SURVEY RESULTS
The result of the survey shows complete coverage and detailed bathymetry around the
platform out to a range of 200 meters in all directions.
General bathymetry shows even gradient shoaling from north to south. Depths in the
northeast are 32.0 meters and in the southwest 30.6 meters.
A shoal dome exists with least depth of 29.7m about 220m north of the platform.
The entire area is dominated by numerous pockmarks and mounds.
A set of three rig leg depressions exists centred approximately 40m west of the platform
with a maximum depression of 0.5 meter below the general seafloor depth.
No other significant debris was located within the surveyed area that could hamper the
impending rig move to this location.
