The lecture cast doubt on the understatement existed in the reading passage, which suggests

that the negatives were in fact made by the landscape photographer Ansel Adams.

First of all, lecture argues that the leaning pine tree was not only a random tree find out by Ansel
Adams, it was a famous landmark. Thousands of visitors keen to have a look over that tree, which
made this tree to became a popular symbol of Yosemite. The fact is a bunch of photographers
took the pictures of that trees, this challenges the reading’s assertion as well.

Second, lecture points out the handwriting on the envelopes spell some name incorrectly. The
wife of Ansel Adams is grew up in Yosemite, her father even operated an art studio in that park,
it would be very strange that she spell the hometown place name wrong. This also contradicts
the viewpoint in the article.

Thirdly, the lecture suggests that the process that photographers used in 1920 is dangerous
because of the burnable chemicals could start fire easily. Which proves that the happening of
accident of fire is common photographers studio. Then this also cannot support the claim in the
reading passage.

In summary, it’s true that the negatives was similar with Adam’s work. But the evidence defeat
the viewpoint in the reading passage in 3 aspects: f famous leaning pine tree and the weird
spelling in the envelop of his wife, and even the casual accident in the studio in the past.
