THE FUTURE OF IT AND COMPUTER

Arti cial Intelligence

5G and 6G technology
Quantum computing and communication
internet of things IOT-Smart city smart grid smart homes etc
Blockchain technology

Bharat 6G Mission: Vision document is prepared by the Technology Innovation Group on 6g .

Constituted in 2021 by department of telecommunications.
India launched 6g mission that holistically combines all associated technologies supported by an
adequate nancial backup.
Bharat 6g mission is divided into two phases
Phase 1 (2023-25) the phase one is to understand the inherent. Potential and risk associated with
the 6g technology
Phase 2 (2025-30) conceptualising and delivering potential technology solutions to serve India
and the global community

Signi cance of 6g mission

• To assume leadership in setting the standards for 6g
• To Avoid any other delay as in previous generations of telecommunications technology
• With increasing data uses , lower frequencies in 4g networks may not physically be able to keep
up with the demand for tra c

Pillars of 6g mission
• Research and Development nance
• Ecosystems for devices and systems
• Innovative solutions
• Identi cation of the spectrum
• Multi platform next generation network
• Standardisation

5G TECHNOLOGY

• Mobile communication use radio frequency (waves)

• 2G - 1990s GSM, text and voice only
• 2.5 G - GPRS
• 2.75G - EDGE
• 3G - 2010 GSM
• 4G - Bandwidth increase, LTE (Long term evolution) / VOLTE (Voice over long term evolution)
• 5G - IOT (Internet of things)

Signi cance of 5G technology for india

• Economic growth- 5g network roll out estimated to add 450 billion dollars to the Indian
economy

• High speed communication- With the intention of 5G the data communication rate is about 10
Gbps with having the cheap telecom data charges

• Creation of jobs- With the 5G network roll out opportunity of employment, in the eld of
agriculture, health, education, infrastructure and logistics is increasing

• Self reliance in critical and modern technologies like IOT.

CHALLENGES IN IMPLEMENTATION OF 5G

• Hardware challenge- Indian communications services providers mostly dependent on foreign

telecom organisations and manufacturers for hardware

• High spectrum pricing

• Low berisation footprint- only around 33% of India’s telecom towers are connected by bre
connections

Steps/ initiatives taken by the government

• Department of telecommunications has o ered the uses of 5g test free of cost to the startups
and MSMEs recognised by the government of india up to January 2024.

• 5g india forum by cellular operator ls association of india (COAI)
