Some Applications of Trigonometry INCLUDES ‘© Basic Concepts ‘= Advanced Problems One of the objectives of trigonometry is to find the distances * Quick Recap between points or the heights of objects, without actually | 4, ‘measuring these distances or these heights. Trigonometry is also * Assignment used in geography and in navigation. Let us explore the methods to find the height of an inaccessible tower, mountain, tree by means of observations made at distant points with the use-of.angles and linked trigonometric ratios. BASIC CONCEPTS Line of sight : The line drawn from the eye of an observer fo the point of the object under observation is, called the line of sight. Angle of elevation : For a point being vieWed, the angle of elevation is the angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the point being viewed is above the horizontal level. Angle of depression : For a point being viewed, the angle of depression is the angle formed by the line of, sight with the horizontal when the point being viewed is below the horizontal level.
