Potential Signature Items Optional Rule: Starting Weapons
• Aldana Blade (Castille) 7th Sea 2nd edition offers no guidance as to starting gear or equipment.
• Dietrich Sword (Rose & Cross) Heroes are expected to begin play with whatever gear makes sense. For those
• El Estoque Occulto GMs who prefer a bit more structure to character creation, I offer this optional
(El Vagabundo) rule.
• Gallegos Blade (Castille) A Hero begins play with 1 standard weapon for each background, plus 1 for
• Puzzle Sword (Montaign) each starting point of Wealth (see Patron and Rich Advantages). Example: A
• Soldano Blade (Castille) Hero with the Rich Advantage would begin play with 5 standard weapons, 1 for each
• Sword of Solomon background and 3 for starting Wealth.
(Vaticine Church) The Hero may exchange 1 standard weapon for 2 small weapons, or 2
• Torres Blade (Castille) standard weapons for 1 heavy weapon. This exchange has more to do with size
• Zepeda Blade (Castille) and carrying capacity than it does the wounding capacity of the weapon; it seems
reasonable that a character would carry multiple knives and/or pistols, even two
fencing swords or muskets, but not multiple polearms.
Naturally any other weapons required of the Hero’s expertise may be granted
at the GM’s discretion, or purchased during play with Wealth earned.
