Sizes: Small (Medium, Large) Choose the size based on the desired fit. A snug beanie is
worn with 3-4” / 7.5-10 cm of negative ease. A looser style
Finished Circumference: 16 (18.5, 21.5)” / 40.5 (47, 54.5) cm hat is generally worn with 1-2” / 2.5-5 cm of negative ease.
Designed to be worn with up to 4” / 10 cm of negative ease. To choose your best size, measure your head at the widest

cast on + brim
Using the German Twisted Cast-On method and the smaller
needle, cast on 72 (84, 96) sts. Place a marker and join for
working in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts.
Rnd 1: *K2, p2; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rep [Rnd 1] until the Brim measures 1.25 (1.5, 2)” / 3 (4, 5) cm
from the cast-on edge.
hat body
Change to larger needle.
Knit 2 (4, 4) rnds.
Work Rnds 1-18 once, following the written instructions below, or
Chart A (B, C) on page 4. The pattern is repeated 4 (6, 6) times
across each rnd.
Rnd 1: *K8 (6, 7), yo, ssk, k8 (6, 7); rep from * to end.
Rnd 2 (and all even numbered rnds): Knit.
Rnd 3: *K6 (4, 5), k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k7 (5, 6); rep from * to
end.
Rnd 5: *K5 (3, 4), k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k6 (4, 5); rep from * to
end.
Rnd 7: *K4 (2, 3), k2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk, k5 (3, 4); rep from * to
end.
Rnd 9: *K3 (1, 2), k2tog, yo, k7, yo, ssk, k4 (2, 3); rep from * to
end.
Rnd 11: *K2 (0, 1), k2tog, yo, k9, yo, ssk, k3 (1, 2); rep from * to
end.
Rnd 13: *K8 (6, 7), yo, ssk, k8 (6, 7); rep from * to end.

Once the chart is complete, work in stockinette st (knit every rnd)
until the hat measures 5 (6.5, 7.5)” / 12.5 (16.5, 19) cm from the
cast-on edge.

Continue working on the larger needle. When the circumference
of the hat becomes too small for the circular needle, change to
DPNs to finish the hat.

Rnd 3 (DEC): *K9, k2tog; rep from * to end - 60 (70, 80) sts rem.

Rnd 7 (DEC): *K7, k2tog; rep from * to end - 48 (56, 64) sts rem.
Rnd 9 (DEC): *K6, k2tog; rep from * to end - 42 (49, 56) sts rem.
