Composer Love Triangle

The musical composer Johannes Brahms was deeply in love with Clara Schumann

despite her being married to his best friend Robert Schumann, a fact that further outline just how

the relationship between the trio was greatly complicated. However, Johannes Brahms and Clara

Schumann never consummated their love even after the death of Robert Schumann, as it is

widely believed that he was not ready to marry her despite her being widowed (Reich, 2019).

Johannes Brahms inspired Clara Schumann into rediscovering her love for music after the death

of her husband and hence was a greatly inspiring figure in her musical journey. She eventually

managed to her develop varieties of musical pieces such as the widely popular “Album Leaf”.

Besides, the letters sent by both Clara Schumann and Johannes to each other, acted as sources of

inspiration for the emotional feelings narrated within each of their compositions and thus

cementing the opinion on how their relationship greatly influenced their musical compositions.
