This Detailed Method Statement has been specifically written for load test of simply supported precast
segmental span in connection with construction of elevated viaduct for Joka Mominpur Metro Project
(PKG – 1 & 2) of Joka BBD Bag Metro Corridor.
2. Scope of Work
The load test shall be conducted on a simply supported precast segmental span of 28m / 31m span
length. The scope of work comprises of the following steps:
b) Cleaning of the deck, marking of position where deflection is to be measured and fixing of
plate at the same position for taking levels
d) Placing of dead load as per drawings [Drg No SK-L/01 dt. 21.01.2013 and Drg No
02/DD/C2648/JOKA/28m&31m/LT/001 dated 29.01.2013]. Take reading after placing of dead
load.
e) Placing of super imposed dead load (SIDL) as per drawing [Drg No SK-L/01 dt. 21.01.2013 and
Drg No 02/DD/C2648/JOKA/28m&31m/LT/001 dated 29.01.2013]. Take reading after placing of
SIDL. This load (dead load + SIDL) to be kept for 24 hrs.
3. Reference
a) The following approved for construction drawings have been supplied by RVNL
Total set of Equipment and Accessories required for the work are detailed below:
a) Leveling instruments
Levelling instruments shall be fixed at suitable locations on adjacent spans / as mentioned in the
approved drawings for taking readings.
The deck of span to be tested shall be cleaned. Plates shall be fixed in the positions where deflection is
to be measured along the mid span. A drawing showing the same is attached in Annexure A.
Initial reading / pre levels shall be noted at positions where plates have been fixed.
Dead load, in the form of concrete blocks shall be placed at the locations mentioned in the approved
drawings. Level readings shall be noted after placing of dead load. Loading and unloading of concrete
blocks to and from deck of precast segmental span shall be done by crane of suitable capacity.
The super imposed dead load (SIDL), in the form of sand filled gunny bags (3600 bags) shall also be
placed at the locations mentioned in the approved drawings. Level readings shall be noted after placing
of SIDL. This load combination (dead load + SIDL) shall be sustained for 24hrs. Final readings / levels
shall be noted after sustained loading of 24 hrs. Loading and unloading of sand bags to and from deck
of precast segmental span shall be done by crane of suitable capacity.
Unloading of sand filled gunny bags for SIDL and dead load shall be done and corresponding readings /
levels shall be noted after unloading. Level readings shall be noted after unloading of all loads.
Unloading of SIDL and dead load shall be done by crane of suitable capacity.
6. Safety
At the time of load testing following cares shall be taken to maintain safety at work site.
b) Movement of cranes, vehicles, etc. shall be closely monitored, so that no accident takes place.
