Read the given passage and answer the questions that follow:-
Turtles are amazing creatures that live in both land and water. They have a hard shell on
their back, called a shell. This shell helps to protect them from danger.
Turtles move very slowly on land, but they are fast swimmers in the water. They use their
strong legs and webbed feet to paddle through the water.
Did you know that turtles can live for a long time? Some turtles can live for more than 100
years! That's older than many grandparents!
Turtles eat different things depending on the type of turtle they are. Some turtles eat plants,
while others eat insects or small fish.
When turtles feel scared or threatened, they can pull their head and legs inside their shell to
hide. This helps keep them safe from harm.
Turtles come in many sizes and colors. Some are small, like the size of a coin, while others are
big, like the size of a table!
Next time you see a turtle, remember how special and amazing they are!
iv). Turtles can live for more than 100 years. ________________
ii) Turtles use their strong legs and ______________ to paddle through the water.
iii) Turtles can pull their head and legs inside their shell to _______________ from harm.
v) Some turtles eat _____________, while others eat insects or small fish.

Sam and Daniyal were the fastest bicycle riders in the class. They decided to have a big race on
Saturday morning. Daniyal cleaned his bike, filled air in the tyres and oiled the chain. He checked the
frame of his bike to make sure that everything was right. Sam did not do anything. Sam's bike was
three times more expensive than Daniyal’s bike.
Sam thought he had a much better bike so nothing could go wrong. On seeing Daniyal prepare his bike
for the race, he laughed at him. Sam relaxed and watched television all day.
On Saturday morning Sam and Daniyal arrived for the race. Bob and a group of their friends were
very excited. They started cheering loudly for Sam and Daniyal. The boys began the race very
enthusiastically. After a few seconds, Sam heard a noise and noticed that he could not move any
further. The chain in his bike got stuck and broke. He had to stop while Daniyal raced ahead and
won.

DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, MATHURA ROAD
CLASS- III
SUBJECT – MATHEMATICS
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS –
1
PROJECT BASED ACTIVITY 1- PICTURE PERFECT GEOMETRY
Grab a camera or use the phone’s camera and head outdoors with your friends and
family. Take pictures of different geometrical shapes, patterns, angles that you can spot
in nature, things around the house or in the city architecture. You may also stretch out
on the ground, with your siblings/friends/parents in poses that illustrate geometrical
shapes/patterns/angles. After the pictures are developed, label each photo with a black
marker (see example). Paste these pictures (minimum five) in the maths lab file and
share your experience with your friends and teacher in class.
2
PROJECT BASED ACTIVITY 2 - 12 WAYS TO GET TO 11
ADDITION FACTS
Watch the Animated Kids Book Read Aloud - 12 Ways To Get To 11 by Eve Merriam
When this innovative picture book begins, all the numerals from 1 through 12 are
present and counted for- except 11. Where did it go?? Is it hiding?? Could it be wearing
a disguise?? The search for 11 takes the reader to 12 scenes that each feature a different
combination of items. And guess what? The items in each scene add up to 11!
Watch the Youtube videos shared above and work out 12 ways to get to the numbers
given below.
10 14 20 25 30
8 + 2=10
5 + 5=10
Choose any of the number given above and illustrate 12 ways to reach it, creating a mini
book of your own just like the one in the video.
