Proposal Outline 2

Proposal for Wikipedia Stub

This outline seeks to provide an overview of my proposal for a Wikipedia stub of notable

approval. It will therefore present the required evidence that my proposed additions are verifiable

through previously done research. My topic of choice for this exercise is Shimenawa, a type of

sacred rope conversant with ritual ceremonies in Japanese shrines. I came up with appropriate

titles of the sections within my proposed article, with suitable descriptions for each.

According to my analysis of the general layout used by most of the content on Wikipedia,

I have an idea of how to position my proposal. The first sentence of the article after the title will

be a brief and technical definition of the subject at hand, that is Shimenawa rope. This is

followed by a short table of content that hints at the various sub-headings of content to follow.

After this, the flow of the body is pretty standard, beginning with a re-introduction of the

content, exploration of the discussion and a conclusion peppered with many references.

This proposal will be in need of 5 credible references with annotations that follow the

individual bibliographic sources. The annotation will be structured as follows;

Source # 1

i) Credibility accorded to the sources, such as the academic accolades of the author, or

whether it is the publication of a highly-regarded non-academic journal, magazine, or

book publisher.

ii) Why the source is authoritative and worth considering in the subject area. This could

involve mentioning whether the academics in question are experts in the field or the

expertise of the publisher within the scope of the topic.

Proposal Outline 3

iii) How the source will positively contribute to my discussion in the article. This entails

giving specific details on how the source is going to be used and in what section it is

applicable.

The same structure will be replicated for all the sources.
