HDC –half double crochet

Dec – decrease

Ch.st – chain stitch

2.
MAKING HEAD
Use beige yarn and crochet from the top Please note that due to yarn thickness
to bottom: and crochet tension, stitches can
1. 6 sc in MR move. All the increases and decreases
2. 6 inc (12) of the body and head are made on the
3. (3 inc, 3 sc)*2 (18) sides. Make additional stitches, if
4. 18 sc needed.
5. 3 sc, 3 inc, 6 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc (24)
6. -8. (3 rows) 24 sc
9. 5 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, make 3 chains, skip
3 sts., next make 3 sc, 3 inc, 4 sc (30)
10.-13. (4 rows) 30 sc
14. 6 sc, 3 dec, 9 sc, 3 dec, 3 sc (24)
15. 4 sc, 3 dec, 6 sc, 3 dec. - an
unfinished round to leave the thread on
the side (18)

3.
Leave a tail long enough to sew the
hole on the head shut and to crochet
two rounds of the nose, cut. Distribute
the filler equally inside the head and
sew the hole shut through the outer
loops of the stitches. Hide the tail
inside the nose.

MAKING NOSE
We’ve got a hole of 6 sts when making
the head. We will crochet the nose out
from the hole. Begin with the lower part
(where we had the chains) with beige
yarn:
1. 6 sc
2. 6 inc (12)
Continue with brown yarn:
3. (2 sc, inc)*4 (16)
4. 8 dec (8)

4.
Cut the yarn, pull the hole shut (
the working thread should remain in
the middle of the nose). No need to
stuff the nose. Run the thread to the
lower part of the head, make a knot
and weave in the end. Thus we’ve
made the nasal floor.

MAKING MANE
Take a long cut of the peach thread (we will make the mane in this color)
and back stitch along the head with 3-5 mm stitches, imitating the round of
loops. Cut the yarn and weave in the head.

5.
Join the matching yarn and crochet
along the head following the chart:

3 sc in one st, 5 ch sts., 3 sc in one

st, 5 chains, etc

MAKING BODY
Beige yarn:
1. 9 sc in MR
2. 9 inc (18)
3. 3 inc, 6 sc, 3 inc, 6 sc (24)
4. 2 sc, 3 inc, 9 sc, 3 inc, 7 sc (30)
5. -9. (5 rows) 30 sc
10. 4 sc, 3 dec, 9 sc, 3 dec, 5 sc (24)
11. 24 sc
12. 2 sc, 3 dec, 6 sc, 3 dec, 4 sc (18)
13. 14. 18 sc
+ 4 sc to keep the thread on the side.
Stuff, fold in halves and crochet 9 sl st
through both loops. Leave a tail to sew
to the head and to attach the brooch
pin, cut.
6.
Attach to the lowest part of the
head.

Secure the head at the chin area as

well so that it doesn’t become loose.

7.
attach the pin

MAKING ARMS (2)

Beige yarn:
1. 6 sc in MR
2. 6 inc (12)
3. 12 sc
4. 6 dec (6)
5. -8. (4 rows) 6 sc
Tightly stuff, cut the thread, leaving
a tail long enough to sew to the
body. Pull the hole shut. Run the
thread out between rounds 1 and 2,
counting from the top.
MAKING LEGS (2)
Beige yarn:
1. 6 sc in MR
2. 6 inc (12)
3. (1 sc, inc)*6 (18)
4. 18 sc
5. 9 dec (9)
6. -9. (4 rows) 9 sc
Tightly stuff, cut the thread, leaving
a tail long enough to sew to the
body. Pull the hole shut. Run the
thread out between rounds 1 and 2,
counting from the top.
8.
Pin the arms and attach them to the body. I’ve just attached each arm at several
points so that they bear against the body. You can also use a thread joint
method to make the arms move.

9.
MAKING EARS (2)
Using beige yarn in turning rows. Leave long tails for convenience purposes.
1. 6 sc in MR
2. Ch st., (1 sc, inc)*3 (9)
Pull the MR.
Leave a tail to sew to the head, cut

Fold in halves and join the edges.

10.
Sew to the head using both tails.

Design the snout: glue the eyes and

embroider the eyelids, using a 2-folded
black embroidery floss, eyebrows and
moustache dots with short stitches.
Embroider the clows. 11.
Make a tail of chain sts. I’d crocheted with 4 strands, beige + peach, left a tail
and made it fluffy. You can also do in this way: please watch the video here.

12.
Your baby lion is ready! You can crochet the crown for this
baby: I made it with metallized embroidery floss produced
by Gamma using a 1 mm (metric) hook, separating the
thread in two strands. You can take a usual yarn but stiffen
it with starch later on.
1. Make 6 chains, join to the 1st chain with a sl st
2. Ch.st, 6 sc in a round, sl st at the end
3. (make 4 chains, sl st in the 2nd st from hook, sc in the
3rd st., hdc in the 4th st, skip 1 st of the basic round and
make sl at in the 2nd st of the basic round from
hook)*repeat 3 times.
Shape and sew to the head.
