Understand the notes given below. Write samples 1 and 2 in your notebook and then try to
solve the practice questions given below.

● What is a Notice?
It is a formal means of communication.
● What is its purpose?
Its purpose is to announce or to display information to a specific group of people.
● Where are they pinned?
They are pinned up on specific display boards in schools / public places/newspapers.

● Important Tips for writing an effective Notice

✔ Write in Passive Voice.

✔ The word limit is 50 (only words in the body are counted).

✔ Information should not cause any misunderstanding or confusion.

✔ Catchy, appealing heading attracts readers.

✔ Bold letters, catchy slogans, striking words/ phrases can be used.

✔ Personal Pronouns should be avoided.

✔ Short but grammatically accurate sentences should be used.

✔ Do not mention the details in the Found Notice.

✔ Mention all the details in the Lost Notice.

✔ Don’t forget to mention the place and time of the incident.

found a geometry box in the school library. Draft a notice in 50 words to announce it and ask the owner
to identify and claim it.

to you and claim it after mentioning a few particulars.
