Check whether the paths cross each other or not.

23. In the given figure, AB is the diameter of the circle, AC = 6 cm and BC = 8 cm. Find the area [2]
of the shaded region (Use π = 3.14).

24. The tops of two towers of height x and y, standing on level ground, subtend angles of 30° [2]
and 60° respectively at the centre of the line joining their feet, then find x : y.

25. In the given figure, ABC is a triangle right angled at B and BD ⊥ AC. If AD = 4 cm, and CD = 5 cm, [2]

find BD.

SECTION C

26. Prove that (sin4 θ – cos4θ +1) cosec2θ = 2 [3]

27. If the zeroes of the polynomial x2 + px + q are double in value to the zeroes of [3]
2x2– 5x – 3, find the value of p and q.

28. In the given figure, AB and CD are common tangents to two circles of unequal radii. Prove [3]
that AB = CD.

OR
Prove that a parallelogram circumscribing a circle is a rhombus.

29. Find the largest number that divides 1251, 9377 and 15628 leaving remainders 1, 2 and 3, [3]
respectively.

30. Raghav throws two dice once and computes the product of the numbers appearing on the [3]
dice. Shikha throws one dice and squares the number that appears on it. Who has a better
chance of getting the number 36? Explain your answer.

31. Draw the graph of the pair of equations 2x + y = 4 and 2x – y = 4. Write the vertices of the [3]
triangle formed by these lines and the y-axis. Also find the area of this triangle.
OR
Ankita travels 14 km to her home partly by rickshaw and partly by bus. She takes half an
hour if she travels 2 km by rickshaw, and the remaining distance by bus. On the other
hand, if she travels 4 km by rickshaw and the remaining distance by bus, she takes 9
minutes longer. Find the speed of the rickshaw and of the bus.

SECTION D

32. In the centre of a rectangular lawn of dimensions 50 m × 40 m, a rectangular pond has to be [5]
constructed so that the area of the grass surrounding the pond would be 1184 m 2. The
uniform width of the lawn is x meters. Find the length and breadth of the pond.

OR
A motorboat whose speed in still water is 18 km/h, takes 1 hour more to go 24 km upstream
than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of the stream.

33. A solid toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone. The height [5]
of the cone is 4 cm and the diameter of the base is 8 cm. Determine the volume of the toy.
If a cube circumscribes the toy, then find the volume of the cube . Also, find the total surface
area of the toy.
OR
Water is flowing at the rate of 15 km/h through a pipe of diameter 14 cm into a cuboidal
pond which is 50 m long and 44 m wide. In what time will the level of water in the pond rise
by 21 cm?

34. In the given figure, CM and RN are respectively the [5]

medians of ∆ ABC and ∆ PQR.


If ∆ ABC ~ ∆ PQR, prove that :
(i) ∆ AMC ~ ∆ PNR
(ii) CM/ RN = AB/PQ
(iii) ∆ CMB ~ ∆ RNQ

35. Cost of Living Index for some period is given in the following frequency distribution: [5]

Find the mode and median for above data.

SECTION E

36. A group of students of class X visited India Gate on an education trip. The teacher and [4]
students had interest in history as well. The teacher narrated that India Gate, official name
Delhi Memorial, originally called All India War Memorial , monumental sandstone arch in
New Delhi , dedicated to the troops of British India who died in wars fought between 1914
and 1919. The teacher also said that India gate, which is located at the eastern end of the
Rajpath is about 138 feet (42 meters ) in height.

(i) What is the angle of elevation if they are standing at a distance of 42 m away from the
monument ?
(ii) They want to see the tower at an angle of 600, so they want to know the distance where
they should stand and hence find the distance.
(iii) If the altitude of the Sun is at 600 , then find the height of the vertical tower that will cast
a shadow of length 20 m .
OR
(iii) The ratio of the length of a rod and its shadow is 1:1 .Find the angle of elevation of
the Sun.

37. In a GPS, The lines that run east-west are known as lines of latitude, and the lines running [4]
north-south are known as lines of longitude. The latitude and the longitude of a place are
its coordinates and the distance formula is used to find the distance between two places.
The distance between two parallel lines is approximately 150 km. A family from Uttar
Pradesh planned a round trip from Lucknow (L) to Puri (P) via Bhuj (B) and Nashik (N) as
shown in the given figure below.

Based on the above information answer the following questions using the coordinate
geometry.

1. Find the distance between Lucknow (L) to Bhuj(B).


2. If Kota (K), internally divide the line segment joining Lucknow (L) to Bhuj (B) into 3 : 2
then find the coordinate of Kota (K).
3. Name the type of triangle formed by the places Lucknow (L), Nashik (N) and Puri
(P)ORFind a place (point) on the longitude (y-axis) which is equidistant from the points
Lucknow (L) and Puri (P).

38. 390 plants are to be planted in a garden in a number of rows. There are 40 plants in the [4]
1st row, 38 plants in 2nd row, 36 plants in 3rd row and so on. Each next row has two
plants less than those in the previous row . Based on the above information, answer the
following questions :
(i) Find the number of plants in the tenth row .
(ii) Find the total number of plants in the first five rows.
(iii) In how many rows the 390 plants are planted?
OR
(iii) Is it possible to plant 390 plants in 26 rows ? Give reasons .
