1. Use the following words to say why so many countries do not have fresh
water. Some countries only have water from rivers and wells. In Asia and Africa

2. Describe the use of water in the UK and other European countries. What

while they have lots of droughts.
5. Where is most of the fresh water used? Farms and factories Why is water
necessary there?Crops and animals = food for the growing population
6. “But rainfall can, of course, be a big problem”. What does the author mean by
this? Floods….droughts…too much/too little is a problem . Some have a lot of
rain but only use 10%. The rest lost-GROUND , AIR , SEA.
7. Where do countries with dry weather get their fresh water? Rivers and lakes,
pump from underground

ABOUT YOU
1. Describe how you wash your dishes/ your car/, how you shower and water
your plants….etc. Can you think of something you can do differently to use
less fresh water? Think of at least 3 ideas.
2. Look at the map of Argentina and think of reasons why some regions grow
many crops and others do not. Think of the climate and the rivers that flow
through them. Which is the most fertile region? Why is it so?
