1. Read the following text.

My Wonderful Family

Hi, my name is Sam. I am nine and I live in a family of nine. I've got five brothers and
their names are David aged sixteen, Michael aged fourteen, Joe aged twelve, Jacob aged
seven and Isaac aged four. I've got a little sister Naomi aged two. My mother is called
Pamela and my dad is called Bernie. I live in the county of Angus, which is in Scotland.
I get on quite well with my brother Michael because he is kind and helps me. I don't get
on so well with my brother Joe because he is a bit annoying. I like living in a big family
and I wouldn't like to change anything.

Hello, my name is Joe Hayden and I am twelve years old. My eldest brother David is
sixteen and Michael is fourteen. I have three younger brothers My little sister, who is
called Naomi, is only two.

David, Michael, and I are all into music something we always enjoy. David plays the
drums and Michael plays guitar, both quite loud but no one really minds. I get on well
with David but not so much with my younger brothers Jacob and Sam. David Michael
and I are lucky because we all get to escape! We go to a school that is far, far away and
we are only at home during the holidays.

It's good being in a big family. You can play games like football and cricket with
everyone. In smaller families, this is not possible. Also, a big family means a big house,
so you can always find somewhere to be by yourself. I like that sometimes. The bad thing
is that you always get little kids bugging you. They can be so noisy. Everything around
you is very busy and messy, and there's lots of washing up and laundry to do. It also costs
much more to go anywhere. But I prefer being in a big family.

After the reading, answer the following questions:

1. What is the name of Sam's sister?

a) Naomi
b) Pamela
c) Jacob
d) Isaac

2. How many brothers does Sam have?

a) 2
b) 3
c) 5
d) 7

3. Where does Sam live?

a) England
b) Ireland

43
c) Scotland
d) Wales

4. What is the name of Joe's eldest brother?

a) Michael
b) Joe
c) Jacob
d) David

5. What does Joe say about living in a big family?

a) It's always noisy and messy.
b) It's expensive to go places.
c) He prefers living in a smaller family.
d) He enjoys playing games with everyone.

Life is a remarkable journey, marked by a series of events that shape our experiences,

Childhood is a time of innocence and discovery. Our first steps, the thrill of riding a
bicycle, and the wonder of our first day of school are events that fill us with excitement.
These moments lay the foundation for our future, teaching us to explore and learn from

of those around us.

As the years pass, we reflect on the accumulation of events that have shaped us. We

In a land far away, hidden deep within an untouched forest, lies a jungle that is unlike any
other. This jungle is home to some of the most fascinating creatures you can imagine. As
you step into the dense foliage, you're immediately greeted by the scary calls of exotic
birds echoing through the trees.

143
The jungle is a place of contrast, where the weather can go from hotter than hot during
the day to colder than cold at night. The days are filled with intense heat that makes you
long for the shade of the tall, majestic trees. However, when the sun sets, the temperature
drops rapidly, and you'll find yourself needing the warmest jacket to keep cozy.

As you explore deeper into the jungle, you encounter a river with huge crocodiles basking
in the sun. Their jaws are wide open, revealing rows of terrifying teeth. Nearby, a group
of tiny monkeys swings through the trees, their movements as agile as acrobats. These
monkeys are some of the most adorable creatures you've ever seen, with their big, round
eyes and mischievous expressions.

Comparing the animals in the jungle, the crocodiles are certainly larger than the monkeys,
but the monkeys are undeniably more agile. It's fascinating to see how each animal has
adapted to survive in this extreme environment. Some animals have developed thicker fur
to withstand the cold nights, while others have evolved sharper claws for climbing trees.

One morning, as the sun rises over the horizon, you witness the sky transform into a
beautiful canvas of colors. The sunrise is like a masterpiece, with shades of red, orange,
and pink painting the heavens. It's a sight that leaves you in awe, reminding you of the
wonders of nature.

As you continue your journey through the jungle, you realize that despite its challenging
conditions and occasional natural disasters like thunderstorms, this place holds a unique
beauty that is more captivating than anything you've ever experienced. It's a world where
the animals, the weather, and the landscape come together to create a truly unforgettable
adventure.

1. What type of creatures inhabit the jungle?

a) Friendly creatures
b) Boring creatures
c) Fascinating creatures
d) Invisible creatures
2. What do the calls of exotic birds sound like in the jungle?
a) Joyful
