Anda dikehendaki menjalankan satu eksperimen untuk mengkaji kesan suhu terhadap kadar
tindak balas.
You are required to carry out an experiment to investigate the effect of temperature on the rate
of reaction.

Rajah 1 menunjukkan susunan radas bagi menentukan kadar tindak balas antara magnesium
dengan asid hidroklorik, HCl.
Diagram 1 shows the set-up apparatus to determine the rate of reaction between magnesium
and hydrochloric acid, HCl.

Jalankan eksperimen mengikut langkah-langkah seperti berikut:


Carry out the experiment according to the following steps:

1. Gosokkan 2 cm pita magnesium dengan kertas pasir sehingga berkilat.


Rub 2 cm magnesium ribbon with a sand paper until shiny.

2. Sukat 40.0 cm3 asid hidroklorik 1.0 mol dm-3 dengan menggunakan silinder penyukat dan
tuang ke dalam bikar 100 ml / 50 ml.
Measure 40.0 cm3 of 1.0 mol dm-3 hydrochloric acid by using measuring cylinder and pour
it into 100 ml / 50 ml beaker.

3. Masukkan termometer ke dalam bikar yang mengandungi asid hidroklorik. Kemudian


panaskan asid hidroklorik dalam bikar sehingga suhu mencapai 35 oC.
Put a thermometer into the beaker that containing hydrochloric acid. Then, heat
hydrochloric acid in the beaker until temperature reaches 35 oC.

4. Dengan menggunakan pemegang tabung uji, pindahkan bikar ke atas jubin putih.
By using test tube holder, place the beaker on the white tile.

5. Masukkan pita magnesium ke dalam bikar yang mengandungi asid hidroklorik.


Put the magnesium ribbon into the beaker containing hydrochloric acid.

6. Dengan serta-merta, mulakan jam randik.


Start the stopwatch immediately.

7. Hentikan jam randik sebaik sahaja pita magnesium melarut sepenuhnya. Rekod masa yang
diambil.
Stop the stopwatch when the magnesium ribbon dissolves completely. Record the time
taken.

8. Bilas termometer dengan menggunakan air suling.


Rinse the thermometer by using distilled water.

9. Ulang langkah 1 hingga 8 dengan memanaskan asid hidroklorik pada suhu 45 oC dan
55 oC.
Repeat steps 1 until 8 by heating hydrochloric acid at temperature 45 oC and 55 oC.

(a) Bina satu jadual untuk merekod masa yang diambil untuk pita magnesium melarut
sepenuhnya pada suhu yang berbeza daripada eksperimen ini.
Construct a table to record the time taken for magnesium ribbon dissolves completely
for different temperature from this experiment.

compare the rate of reaction between ethanoic acid and hydrochloric acid when
reacted with magnesium ribbon. Explain your answer.
