Dr.

Paul Kalanithi’s life was ambitious,

eventful, and successful, but it was left
without a story despite his hopes for most of
his life. He continued his work as a reputable
neurosurgeon, but left his life unchronicled.
But, when he was diagnosed with terminal
cancer, he would not allow his aspiration of
writing a novel to go unsatisfied. In the time
left to him, he wrote a powerful, meaningful
book, “When Breath Becomes Air.” Its intimacy
is tender, yet poignant, and the heartrending
beauty of his story and his intellectual quest
to understand the human condition and life’s
meaning is indelible.

PAUL
BECOMES AIR

"POWERFUL AND
POIGNANT" -
Sunday Times
Paul Kalanithi's memoir,
When Breath Becomes Air, is
inherently sad, but the
beauty of his writing and
the emotional investment is
worth making. The
philosophy of life, death,
medicine, and literature are
explored in a way that is
paradoxically inspiring.
