Abbreviations & extra explanation

sts = stitches
ch = chain stitch
slst = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = triple crochet
rnd = rounds
tog = together (eg. sc2tog = use single crochet to join 2 stitches together,
decrease)
[] …x = repeat the instructions in parentheses …(number)… times
(…) = the parentheses at the end of each round indicate the number of
stitches in that round.

Make sure you crochet tightly throughout the entire pattern, so you do not get stretch holes
between your stitches and the filling doesn’t come through your stitches after filling firmly.
This pattern is worked in spiral, unless indicated otherwise.

Take your time to pin all the parts in place, before sewing them into place. This way you can
make sure that the parts are in the correct position, which is important for a good end result.

1 sc* in the tr, 1 sc in each sc until you reach the slst of last round, slst in that slst. Repeat 4
more times (40)

Fasten off.

Putting it together

Put the mobile arm together. Cut the satin cord in 5

pieces of 40 cm/16 inch long. Tie a knot in one of the ends
and thread the other end onto a big sharp needle. Insert
the needle in the head of the flamingo and push through,
exiting between round 1 and 2 of the head. The end with
the knot should stay stuck in the head. Repeat for all 5
flamingos.
On the 2 lightest colored flamingos, thread 2 stars. Move them to a height that you like. They
will stay in place on their own, but if you prefer you can fix them with a drop of glue. Thread
the cord through 2 opposing ends of the arm and secure with a firm knot. Cut the end of the
cord right below the knot.

On 2 darker colored flamingos, thread 1 star. Finish in the same way as the other flamingos.

On the last flamingo, thread 2 stars and the sun. Finish in the same way as the other flamingos.
Attach this flamingo in the middle of the mobile.
