COURSE SYLLABUS
GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
Course Number : ME 413
Course Description : The course deals with various mechanical properties of engineering materials in lieu of the determination of design factor and design stresses. It includes the
analyses of simple, variable and combined stresses applied to different mechanical elements such as shafts, mechanical springs.
Program Outcomes:
By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall have the ability to:
1. Apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve complex mechanical engineering problems;
2. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data;
3. Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints, in accordance with standards;
4. Function in multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams;
5. Identify, formulate, and solve complex mechanical engineering problems;
6. Understand professional and ethical responsibility;
7. Communicate effectively;
8. Understand the impact of mechanical engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context;
9. Recognize the need for, and engage in life-long learning;
10. Know contemporary issues;
11. Use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for mechanical engineering practice;
12. Know and understand engineering and management principles as a member and leader of a team, and to manage projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
