WATER SYSTEM

a . Water Tank. A 68 l i t r e ( 1 5 g a l l o n ) f r e s h water t a n k is f i t t e d .


A t r i p l e diaphragm water pump and h o t water h e a t e r p r o v i d e both h o t
and c o l d w a t e r . The water system is e x t e r n a l f i l l i n g u s i n g
convoluted non-toxic hose. The t r i p l e diaphragm water pump is
f i t t e d w i t h an o v e r - r i d e s w i t c h i n t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n t r o l p a n e l , and
t h e pump is p r o t e c t e d w i t h a 7.5 amp f u s e . A 68 l i t r e ( 1 5 g a l l o n )
waste water t a n k i s f i t t e d a s s t a n d a r d .

The Talisman GL was i n t r o d u c e d a t t h e 1988 Caravan and Camping


Exhibition a t E a r l s Court, London, succeeding t h e Talisman I1 model.

4.1

INTERNAL LAYOUT

GENERAL

The v e r s a t i l e d e s i g n of t h e Talisman GL a l l o w s e i t h e r two forward


f a c i n g o r f o u r inward f a c i n g s e a t s i n t h e r e a r of ;;he v e h i c l e . In
a d d i t i o n , b o t h cab s e a t s a r e f u l l y r e c l i n i n g and both s e a t s a r e
f i t t e d with s w i v e l mechanisms.

SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

Cab S e a t s
Both t h e s p e c i a l l y designed cab s e a t s a r e f u l l y a d j u s t a b l e , and f o r e
and a f t movement can be o b t a i n e d by r e l e a s i n g t h e c a t c h under t h e
f r o n t of t h e s e a t and s l i d i n g t h e s e a t t o t h e r e q u i r e d p o s i t i o n .
Both s e a t s a r e f u l l y r e c l i n i n g by use of t h e k n u r l e d a d j u s t m e n t
wheel found a t t h e s i d e of t h e s e a t , and a r e f i t t e d w i t h head
restraints.

SWIVEL MECHANISMS

Both cab s e a t s may be s w i v e l l e d t o f a c e any d i r e c t i o n r e q u i r e d by


l i f t i n g t h e r e l e a s e l e v e r on t h e s i d e o f t h e s e a t and t u r n i n g t h e
s e a t t o the required position.

IMPORTANT: SWIVEL MECHANISMS MUST BE LOCKED I N THE FORWARD FACING


POSITION BEFORE MOVING OFF.

CARAVAN SEATS

I n o r d e r t o c o n v e r t t h e two forward f a c i n g s e a t s t o t h e a l t e r n a t i v e
f o u r inward f a c i n g s e a t s , t h e f o l l o w i n g a c t i o n should be taken:-

a. Remove cushions.
b. Extend bed box e x t e n s i o n s and bolt i n t o position.
c. Hinge b a s e of s e a t forward t o r e s t on bed box ex;-ensions.
d. Hinge forward f a c i n g b a c k r e s t down i n t o h o r i z o n t a l p o s i t i o n .
e. Replace b a s e cushions.
f. F i t b a c k r e s t cushion e n s u r i n g tilt board is extended and s t r a p
press s t u d s secure.

IMPORTANT: SEAT RESTRAINT STRAPS ARE FITTED AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT TO


ALL FRONT FACING SEATS. PASSENGERS SHOULD WEAR THESE RESTRAINT STRAPS
WHEN TRAVELLING I N THE VEHICLE WITH THE CARAVAN SEATS I N THE FORWARD
FACING POSITION.
5) TABLES

Two l a r g e t a b l e s a r e s u p p l i e d a s s t a n d a r d ; both t a b l e s a r e s t o r e d
behind t h e o f f s i d e b a c k r e s t cushion when t h e caravan s e a t s a r e i n
t h e d i n e t t e p o s i t i o n . They a r e s e c u r e d by u s e of c l o t h t a b s which
s h o u l d be a t t a c h e d t o p r e v e n t unnecessary movement o f t h e t a b l e s
when i n t h e s t o r e d p o s i t i o n . The t a b l e l e g s a r e housed, when n o t i n
u s e , i n t h e wardrobe by u s e of r e t a i n i n g s p r i n g c l i p s . When t h e
t a b l e s a r e r e q u i r e d , t h e l e g s should f i r s t be p l a c e d i n t h e
a p p r o p r i a t e f l o o r mounting and t h e t a b l e s p l a c e d upon them. When
n o t i n u s e , t h e t a b l e bungs should be p l a c e d i n t h e f l o o r mounting
holes.

IMPORTANT: TABLES MUST BE STORED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS I N MOTION.

KITCHEN AREA

The k i t c h e n a r e a is a t t h e r e a r of t h e v e h i c l e . Between t h e caravan


door and t h e shower i s found t h e s t a i n l e s s s t e e l s i n k and d r a i n e r
and t h e c o o k e r / g r i l l and oven. Beneath t h e s i n k / d r a i n e r is a hinged
f l a p which g i v e s a c c e s s t o t h e s l i d i n g c u t l e r y drawer a s w e l l a s
g i v i n g f u r t h e r s t o r a g e space f o r s m a l l i t e m s . The s i n k is f e d by
both h o t and c o l d running water and when n o t i n u s e is concealed by
a laminated hinged l i d which g i v e s a d d i t i o n a l working s u r f a c e if.
r e q u i r e d . Adjacent t o t h e s i n k / d r a i n e r is t h e two b u r n e r cooker and
g r i l l with oven below. When t h e cooker i s i n u s e , s t a i n l e s s s t e e l
s p l a s h p l a t e s e n s u r e t h a t t h e f u r n i t u r e u n i t s remain pro2ected both
from h e a t and cooking s t a i n s . Like t h e s i n k , t h e cooker is
concealed by a laminated l i d when n o t i n u s e which a f f o r d s f u r t h e r
working space. A s h e l v e d cupboard is t o be found under t h e s i n k
with two hinged doors. A l l k i t c h e n s h e l v e s a r e c o a t e d with a
p l a s t i c m a t e r i a l which is e a s i l y cleaned should s p i l l i n g o c c u r . A
f u r t h e r small cupboard is t o be found underneath t h e oven which
i n c o r p o r a t e s t h e g a s t a p s f o r t h e w a t e r h e a t e r , i n t e r i o r h e a t e r and
cooker. The t r i p l e diaphragm water pump is housed beneath t h e s h e l f
i n t h e lower s i n k cupboard behind a small a c c e s s p a n e l . L i g h t i n g
f o r t h e k i t c h e n a r e a is provided by a 1 6 watt f l o u r e s c e n t l i g h t i n
t h e c e i l i n g and a d d i t i o n a l l i g h t i n g i s provided by a c o u r t e s y l i g h t
l o c a t e d on t h e r e a r of t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r u n i t above t h e r e a r door
step.

A l a r g e 2 cubic f o o t ( g r o s s ) g a s / l 2 volt/240 v o l t Electrolux


r e f r i g e r a t o r f i t t e d with e l e c t r o n i c i g n i t i o n and f r e e z e r compartment
is found a d j a c e n t t o t h e caravan door. A s found elsewhere i n t h e
k i t c h e n a r e a , t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r u n i t is p r o t e c t e d by a h e a t r e s i s t a n t
working s u r f a c e .

Immediately above t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r is found t h e i n s u l a t e d c o c k t a i l


c a b i n e t which i n c o r p o r a t e s a hinged g l a s s f r o n t e d door and i n c l u d e s
f o u r wine g l a s s e s a s s t a n d a r d and p r o v i s i o n f o r t h r e e b o t t l e s . On
t h e l e f t hand s i d e of t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r u n i t is a 13 amp t h r e e p i n
s o c k e t f o r u s e w i t h mains hook-up.

Above t h e c o c k t a i l c a b i n e t i s t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n t r o l p a n e l which
i n c o r p o r a t e s a f r e s h water l e v e l i n d i c a t o r , b a t t e r y c o n d i t i o n
i n d i c a t o r l i g h t s , a 12 v o l t s o c k e t and master s w i t c h e f o r t h e water
pump. The e l e c t r i c a l c o n t r o l panel a l s o i n c o r p o r a t e s s p e a r a t e f u s e s
f o r a l l major a p p l i a n c e s , and t h e 1 2 v o l t system i s o l a t i n g s w i t c h .
The crockery compartment, which houses crockery f o r f o u r a s
s t a n d a r d , is t o be found i n t h e r e a r n e a r s i d e t o p l o c k e r . The
c r o c k e r y i s h e l d i n p o s t i o n by two r e s t r a i n i n g s t r a p s .

The f i r e e x t i n g u i s h e r i s found on t h e r e a r end of t h e n e a r s i d e t o p


locker.

To t h e l e f t o f t h e cooker u n i t is t h e i n s t a n t a n e o u s w a t e r h e a t e r
which o f f e r s b o t h h o t and c o l d running water t o t h e s i n k , shower
head and hand b a s i n . Above t h e r e a r window pelmet is a s h a l l o w
compartment which o f f e r s f u r t h e r s t o r a g e a2ea f o r small i t e m s .

7) SHOWER COMPARTMENT

The shower compartmenr is found on t h e r e a r o f f s i d e of t h e v e h i c l e


a d j a c e n t t o t h e wardrobe. It c o n s i s t s o f a chemical c a s s e t t e
t o i l e t , a drop down wash b a s i n w i t h mixer t a p s , a shower head
i n c o r p o r a t i n g both h o t and c o l d running w a t e r , a v a n i t y u n i t and a
f u l l l e n g t h shower c u r t a i n . The shower compartment i s h e a t e d by t h e
blown a i r t h e r m o s t a t i c a l l y c o n t r o l l e d h e a t e r system and is f u l l y
i n s u l a t e d . A l a r g e four-way d i r e c t i o n a l roof v e n t i l a t o r p r o v i d e s
v e n t i l a t i o n a s r e q u i r e d . A s i n g l e tube f l o ~ ~ e s c e nl itg h t is f i t t e d
i n t h e c e i l i n g and an i n s u l a t e d bound f l o o r c a r p e t p r e v e n t s damage
t o t h e shower f l o o r when n o t i n use. A soap d i s h is f i t t e d t o t h e
l e f t of t h e hand b a s i n and a towel r a i l i s provided on t h e i n s i d e of
t h e shower compartment door. The shower t r a y , which i n c o r p o r a t e s a
small plug, d r a i n s t o t h e waste t a n k .

8) WARDROBE UNIT

The wardrobe u n i t i s s i t u a t e d a d j a c e n t t o t h e shower compartment and


c o n s i s t s of two p a r t s :
Wardrobe. The wardrobe which i n c o r p o r a t e s a hanging r a i l is found
immediately above t h e t h e r m o s t a t i c a l l y c o n t r o l l e d blown a i r h e a t e r .
I n t h e t o p of t h e wardrobe i s a l i p p e d f u l l width s h e l f s u i t a b l e f o r
s o f t c l o t h i n g . The wardrobe is f u l l y l i n e d and i n s u l a t e d . On t h e
r i g h t h a n d wardrobe w a l l a r e t h e two t a b l e l e g s s e c u r e l y h e l d by
restraining clips.
T h e r m o s t a t i c a l l y C o n t r o l l e d Blown A i r Heater. The t h e r m o s t a t i c a l l y
blown a i r h e a t e r u n i t i s found i n t h e base of t h e wardrobe
compartment. For o p e r a t i n g i n s t r u c t i o n s and f o r d e t a i l s of a c c e s s
t o t h e blower f a n , p l e a s e r e f e r t o "Operating I n s t r u c t i o n s " . A 240
v o l t l i g h t is f i t t e d t o t h e l e f t h a n d wardrobe w a l l .

9) STORAGE

S t o r a g e i s provided by t h e cupboards, l o c k e r s and t h e bed boxes.


A d d i t i o n a l s t o r a g e is a v a i l a b l e i n t h e overcab bed a r e a i f r e q u i r e d .
The o p t i o n a l overcab bed l o c k e r s , f i t t e d i n p l a c e of t h e overcab bed
a l s o provide a d d i t i o n a l s t o r a g e space. Items may a l s o be s t o r e d
under t h e c a b s e a t s .

IMPORTANT: HEAVY ITEMS MUST NOT BE STORED I N ANY OVERHEAD LOCKER OR


I N ANY STORAGE AREA FROM WHICH IT COULD COME FREE AND CAUSE I N J U R Y
TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. ENSURE ALL CUPBOARDS ARE SECURELY
FASTENED BEFORE MOVING OFF.
1 0 ) SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The Talisman GL o f f e r s t h r e e s l e e p i n g arrangements a s s t a n d a r d ,


e i t h e r two s i n g l e beds o r one l a r g e double bed and t h e overcab
double bed.
S i n g l e Beds. Two s i n g l e beds may be made u t i l i s i n g t h e c a b and
t h e d i n e t t e s e a t s . This o p e r a t i o n i s as follows:-
a ) S l i d e t h e cab s e a t s a s f a r forward a s t h e s t o p s w i l l a l l o w
and r e c l i n e t h e s e a t backs by u s e of t h e knurled a d j u s t i n g
knobs t o t h e h o r i z o n t a l p o s i t i o n having f i r s t removed t h e
head r e s t r a i n t s .
b ) When t h e s e a t i n g c o n f i g u r a t i o n i s i n t h e inward f a c i n g
d i n e t t e p o s i t i o n , t h e b a s e c u s h i o n s should be a l i g n e d on t h e
bed box l i d s , w i t h t h e b o l s t e r s f a c i n g outwards t o a l l o w two
f u l l l e n g t h s i n g l e beds. I f , however, t h e r e a r s e a t s a r e i n
t h e forward f a c i n g p o s i t i o n t h e c u s h i o n s s h o u l d be removed,
and t h e f o l l o w i n g o p e r a t i o n c a r r i e d o u t :
1) Fold forward s e a t base t o h o r i z o n t a l p o s i t i o n .
2 ) Lower b a c k r e s t t o h o r i z o n t a l p o s i t i o n .
3) Replace c u s h i o n s w i t h b o l s t e r s f a c i n g outwards.

Double Bed. I n o r d e r t o assemble t h e double bed, t h e s e a t i n g


should be arranged t o t h e inward f a c i n g d i n e t t e p o s i t i o n . The
f o l l o w i n g should t h e n be c a r r i e d o u t :
I ) P u l l o u t bed box e x t e n s i o n s and b o l t i n t o p o s i t i o n .
2) P l a c e t a b l e s on s h o u l d e r s between bed boxes t o f i l l s p a c e
i n gangway.
3 ) R e p o s i t i o n c u s h i o n s as f o l l o w s :
a ) P l a c e base c u s h i o n s , w i t h b o l s t e r s f a c i n g outwards,

Ensure t h a t t h e windows, when c l o s e d , have t h e s e c u r i n g c a t c h e s i n
t h e c o r r e c t p o s i t i o n . The s e c u r i n g c a t c h e s o p e r a t e as f o l l o w s .

two cam arms when r e q u i r e d .
c) Double Glazed Windows. The l o c k i n g c a t c h e s on double g l a z e d

r e l e a s e t h e window first squeeze t h e c a t c h t h a t w i i l i n t u r n
a l l o w t h e window t o s l i d e . For l o c k i n g t h e windows, t h e y
should be pushed f i r m l y s h u t a t which time t h e l o c k w i l l
reassert itself.
The r e a r a c r y l i c window p a n e l s may be s l i d forward t o a s s i s t
i n t h e c l e a n i n g of t h e windows. To c a r r y o u t t h i s o p e r a t i o n
remove t h e s i n g l e screw and b r a c k e t a t t h e t o p of t h e window
b a r . This w i l l a l l o w f u l l and f r e e movement of t h e r e a r
window p a n e l .

To open t h e r e a r window, f i r s t l i f t t h e l e v e r s a t e i t h e r s i d e
of t h e window and t h e n push window base outwards t o t h e h a l f
o r f u l l y open p o s i t i o n a s r e q u i r e d . For c l o s i n g , t h e window
should f i r s t be opened f u l l y t o r e l e a s e t h e r a t c h e t ,
t h e r e a f t e r t h e a c t i o n should be r e v e r s e d .
Overcab Windows. The windows i n t h e overcab a r e a a r e f i x e d
and manufactured i n toughened s a f e t y g l a s s .

THE DESIGN OF THE SLIDING WINDOWS IS SUCH THAT IS CERTAIN


CONDITIONS WATER MAY L I E I N THE CHANNEL. THIS IS PART OF THE
DESIGN AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A PROBLEM.

V e n t i l a t i o n . The Talisman GL i s f i t t e d w i t h two four-way r o o f


v e n t i l a t o r s i n t h e l i v i n g a r e a and one i n t h e shower
compartment. T h i s g i v e s generous v e n t i l a t i o n when r e q u i r e d .
Each roof v e n t i l a t o r has a d e t a c h a b l e f l y s c r e e n and t h e
four-way opening f a c i l i t y may be achieved by s l i d i n g t h e

b r a c e s p e c i a l l y s u p p l i e d , a r e designed t o g i v e g r e a t e r s t a b i l i t y t o
t h e v e h i c l e when it is s t a t i o n a r y on s i t e . The wheel b r a c e f o r u s e
when lowering t h e r e a r c o r n e r s t e a d i e s i s s t o r e d under t h e f a l s e
f l o o r between t h e cab s e a t s .
IMPORTANT: ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD THE REAR CORNER STEADIES BE USED
TO JACK UP THE VEHICLE WHEN CARRYING OUT MAINTENANCE OR CHANGING A
WHEEL ETCETERA.

ROOF RACK AND LADDER

When u s i n g t h e r o o f r a c k c a r e should be t a k e n t o s e e t h a t a l l t h e
i t e m s a r e s e c u r e l y anchored. Apart from g e n e r a l c l e a n i n g and
p o l i s h i n g , t h e s t a i n l e s s s t e e l roof r a c k and l a d d e r r e q u i r e no
s p e c i a l maintenance. Maximum l o a d on t h e roof r a c k s h o u l d n o t

w i t h t h e r e l e v a n t manufacturer. Before u s i n g them you s h o u l d r e f e r
t o t h e a p p r o p r i a t e s e c t i o n i n t h i s I n s t r u c t i o n Book a s w e l l a s t o
any accompanying m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s l i t e r a t u r e . A l l warranty
c e r t i f i c a t e s s h o u l d be completed and r e t u r n e d t o t h e r e l e v a n t
manufacturer.

(2) GAS SYSTEM. The v e n t i l a t e d g a s c y l i n d e r compartment i s l o c a t e d on


t h e lower n e a r s i d e c e n t r e o f t h e v e h i c l e , w i t h a c c e s s t o t h i s
compartment b e i n g through a hinged l o c k a b l e door. The g a s
compartment is f u l l y v e n t i l a t e d and i s i n s u l a t e d from t h e i n t e r i o r
of t h e v e h i c l e . The g a s b o t t l e s a r e anchored by t h e u s e o f two

a p p r o p r i a t e knob, r o t a t e a q u a r t e r a n t i - c l o c k w i s e , t o t h e
f u l l y ' O N ' p o s i t i o n and apply a flame t o b u r n e r . I t s h o u l d
l i g h t immediately. ( I f t h e burner goes o u t when t h e knob
is r e l e a s e d r e p e a t t h e procedure b u t hold t h e knob i n
l o n g e r b e f o r e r e l e a s i n g i t . Cookers f i t t e d w i t h flame
f a i l u r e only).

To t u r n t h e burner t o t h e low/simmer p o s i t i o n g i v e a
f u r t h e r q u a r t e r t u r n a n t i - c l o c k w i s e , any r e q u i r e d s e t t i n g
between f u l l and low/simmer c a n be o b t a i n e d by p o s i t i o n i n g
t h e knob between t h e s e two s e t t i n g s .

To t u r n o f f t h e g a s r o t a t e t h e knob clockwise u n t i l t h e b a r
on t h e knob is h o r i z o n t a l with t h e d o t on t h e knob by t h e
z e r o on t h e f a c i a .

Flame Failure Safety Shut Off Device (FFD)

I n t h e e v e n t of t h e flame being e x t i n g u i s h e d t h e b u r n e r s
w i l l a u t o m a t i c a l l y s h u t o f f t h e g a s . The oven i s f i t t e d
with an FFD Valve.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Each time t h e hob h a s been used it should be wiped o v e r w i t h a


damp c l o t h and i f g r e a s y a l i t t l e mild l i q u i d c l e a n e r .

Stubborn marks c a n g e n e r a l l y be removed w i t h one of t h e


commercial c l e a n e r s o r s t a i n l e s s s t e e l p o l i s h i n g pads a v a i l a b l e
a t most hardware s t o r e s . Do not use harsh abrasive material as
these leave scratch marks.

A l l s p i l l a g e s s h o u l d be wiped up immediately b e f o r e t h e y
' burn-on ' .
I n o r d e r t o c l e a n below t h e oven, it is n e c e s s a r y t o d e t a c h t h e
oven door s l i d e from t h e r e a r of t h e cupboard door. This s h o u l d
be done by removing t h e t o p screw, t h u s a l l o w i n g t h e oven door
s l i d e t o swivel.

IMPORTANT: ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD THE COOKER BE USED TO HEAT THE INTERIOR


OF THE VEHICLE.

P r e p a r i n g f o r Use
Open a c c e s s door on t h e o f f s i d e of t h e v e h i c l e and swing o u t
f r e s h water f i l l f u n n e l .
F i l l f r e s h w a t e r tank u s i n g a hose o r j e r r y c a n u n t i l water f u n n e l
l e v e l r e a c h e s neck. Tank c a p a c i t y is 1 5 l i t r e s . During use t h e
d r a i n tube works a s a l e v e l i n d i c a t o r f o r t h e f r e s h water t a n k .
Aqua Rinse may be added t o improve c l e a n i n g of bowl and f l u s h i n g
unit.
Replace cap. Swing water f i l l f u n n e l inward u n t i l i t t o u c h e s s i d e
o f water t a n k . NOTE: 150 m l o f water w i l l remain i n f i l l b o t t l e
when f r e s h w a t e r tank is empty.
Next add Aqua Kem t o C a s s e t t e f o r c o n t r o l l i n g odours. Depress
retaining clip.
Remove c a s s e t t e by p u l l i n g s t r a i g h t o u t . When c a s s e t t e h i t s
s t o p , tilt downward s l i g h t l y and remove.
P o s i t i o n t a n k v e r t i c a l l y and pour o u t s p o u t upwards.
Remove cap. Remove deodorant from s t o r a g e compartment. Add 100 m l
of Aqua Kem through pour-out s p o u t . Add small amount of w a t e r
through s p o u t t o cover t a n k bottom. Replace cap and r e t u r n pour
o u t spout t o its o r i g i n a l stored position.
NOTE: A s an a l t e r n a t i v e deodorant can be added through t h e v a l v e
b l a d e opening.
CAUTION: Do n o t add Aqua Kem c o n c e n t r a t e o r Aqua Kem Bio d i r e c t l y
i n t o t h e t o i l e t bowl while c a s s e t t e t a n k v a l v e b l a d e is c l o s e d .
P r e s s u r e due t o h e a t and a l t i t u d e change c a n b u i l d up i n t h e
c a s s e t t e t a n k c a u s i n g bowl c o n t e n t s t o blow upward upon opening t h e
v a l v e b l a d e , i f opened t o o f a s t . Before each u s e , open and s h u t
t h e c a s s e t t e v a l v e blade t o v e n t t h e t a n k .
S l i d e t h e c a s s e t t e , pour o u t s p o u t f a c i n g o u t s i d e , i n t o t h e caravan
through a c c e s s door. Never f o r c e i n s e r t i o n o r removal of t h e
c a s s e t t e t a n k , damage t o system can occur.
Make s u r e t h e c a s s e t t e is s e c u r e d by t h e r e t a i n i n g c l i p . Close
and lock a c c e s s door.

NOTE: AQUA KEM IS TO BE PLACED I N WASTE TANK ONLY.

Operation

Flushing
1 0 . Before u s i n g t h e t o i l e t we a d v i s e adding some water t o t h e bowl by
p r e s s i n g do& t h e f l u s h knob. This a v o i d s marking t h e bowl. Water
w i l l s t o p f l o w i n g when t h e knob is r e l e a s e d .
To f l u s h a f t e r use p r e s s t h e knob down while t u r n i n g it i n
anti-clockwise d i r e c t i o n .
The t u r n i n g motion opens t h e v a l v e b l a d e , emptying t h e t o i l e t bowl.
This procedure r e s u l t s i n t h e b e s t bowl r i n s e and e f f i c i e n t u s e o f
water. A f t e r f l u s h i n g , t u r n t h e knob i n a clockwise d i r e c t i o n t o
c l o s e t h e v a l v e blade. The t o i l e t can a l s o be used w i t h t h e v a l v e
b l a d e open, which a l l o w s t h e waste t o go d i r e c t l y i n t o t h e h o l d i n g
tank.

h o l d e r i n one hand and cover i n t h e o t h e r , and t u r n i n o p p o s i t e
d i r e c t i o n u n t i l you h e a r a c l i c k . P u l l a p a r t . P l a c e t i s s u e on
h o l d e r , i n s e r t prongs of cover i n t o h o l d e r . Hold cover and h o l d e r
and t w i s t i n o p p o s i t e d i r e c t i o n u n t i l locked. Aqua S o f t t o i l e t
t i s s u e is recommended f o r b e s t r e s u l t s .

Emptying t h e C a s s e t t e

The c a s s e t t e c a p a c i t y i s 20 l i t r e s and s h o u l d be emptied when t h e


waste l e v e l gauge i n d i c a t o r goes from g r e e n t o f u l l r e d . The gauge
does n o t begin t o move from g r e e n t o r e d u n t i l t h e t a n k i s o v e r
half f u l l .
CAUTION: do n o t allow t h e c a s s e t t e t o become o v e r f i l l e d , s e e
t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g s e c t i o n f o r emergency emptying procedure.
Open t h e a c c e s s door on s i d e of caravan. Depress t h e r e t a i n e r
c l i p , p u l l c a s s e t t e u n t i l s t o p , tilt and remove c a s s e t t e .
Carry t h e c a s s e t t e u s i n g t h e lower c a r r y i n g h a n d l e , pour o u t s p o u t
up, t o a normal household type t o i l e t o r o t h e r a u t h o r i s e d d i s p o s a l
p o i n t . S e t c a s s e t t e i n v e r t i c a l p o s i t i o n on t h e ground and r o t a t e
pour o u t s p o u t upward.
Remove s p o u t cap. Grasp u n i t by c a r r y i n g handle n e a r e s t t o pour
spout.
P l a c e o t h e r hand on upper r e a r hand g r i p s o t h a t t h e a i r r e l i e f
v a l v e b u t t o n c a n be d e p r e s s e d w i t h thumb while emptying, t o e n s u r e
smooth outflow of t a n k c o n t e n t s . When emptying, r i n s e t a n k and
v a l v e b a l d e a r e a with water.
NOTE: Depress a i r r e l e a s e v a l v e b u t t o n o n l y when t h e c a s s e t t e h a s
been l i f t e d i n t o is emptying p o s i t i o n w i t h t h e s p o u t p o i n t i n g
upwards t h e d i s p o s a l c o n t a i n e r .
A f t e r p r e p a r i n g f o r u s e , s l i d e t h e c a s s e t t e i n t o t h e caravan.
Check t o make s u r e t h a t t h e r e t a i n i n g c l i p s e c u r e s t h e t a n k i n a
locked p o s i t i o n . The pour o u t s p o u t end of t h e t a n k s h o u l d be
v i s i b l e through t h e a c c e s s door opening. Add w a t e r t o t h e f r e s h
water t a n k a s o u t l i n e d i n " P r e p a r a t i o n f o r Usett s e c t i o n , c l o s e and
l o c k a c c e s s door.

Cleaning and Maintenance

18. No r o u t i n e maintenance is r e q u i r e d on t h e Thetford C a s s e t t e P o r t a


P o t t i . The u s e of Aqua Rinse h e l p s t o c l e a n and p r o t e c t t h e t o i l e t
bowl, v a l v e b l a d e and s e a l s d u r i n g f l u s h i n g . Do n o t u s e s t r o n g
household d e t e r g e n t s o r c l e a n e r s with c h l o r i n e , s o l v e n t s o r a c i d
c o n t e n t s , as they w i l l damage t h e v a l v e s e a l s .

19. Empty c a s s e t t e and r i n s e t a n k w i t h c l e a r w a t e r . Use a mild soap t o


c l e a n t o i l e t bowl, s e a t and c o v e r , a s w e l l as e x t e r i o r o f t o i l e t
u n i t and c a s s e t t e . Replace t a n k i n s i d e caravan.
NOTES: Pour o u t s p o u t and v e n t p l u g can be removed. S e a l s should
be g r e a s e d i f n e c e s s a r y w i t h V a s e l i n e .

Cold Weather Use

22. To p r e v e n t f r e e z i n g d u r i n g c o l d weather u s e , add a n t i - f r e e z e t o t h e


f r e s h water t a n k . Use a non-toxic ) p r o p y l e n - g l y c o l ) t y p e o f
anti-freeze. Refer t o C h a r t on c o n t a i n e r t o o b t a i n l e v e l of
protection.

High A l t i t u d e and Hot Weather Use

23. With l a r g e temperature d i f f e r e n c e s and changing h e i g h t s d u r i n g


d r i v i n g , o v e r p r e s s u r e can s t a r t t o b u i l d up i n t h e h o l d i n h t a n k .
To d e p r e s s u r i z e your tank c o n t i n u o u s l y , we recommend t o keep t h e
f l u s h knob a b o u t 1 0 d e g r e e s i n t h e d i r e c t i o n of t h e arrow.

NOTE: 2 . 5 Amp Fuse. A 2 , 5 amp f u s e p r o t e c t s t h e c a s s e t t e microswitch. I n


t h e e v e n t o f t h i s f u s e b e i n g blown, no power w i l l be a v a i l a b l e t o
add water t o t h e t o i l e t bowl. I n t h e e v e n t of t h e r e b e i n g no water
f e e d t o t h e t o i l e t bowl, t h i s f u s e s h o u l d be checked and i f
n e c e s s a r y r e p l a c e d . Access t o t h i s t h i s f u s e is a s f o l l o w s :
1. Remove c a s s e t t e .
2. I d e n t i f y microswitch assembly on l e f t hand s i d e of roof of
c a s s e t t e chamber.
3. Remove 2.5 amp f u s e from b a r r e l h o l d e r and r e p l a c e as
necessary.

5) THERMOSTATICALLY CONTROLLED BLOWN A I R HEATING SYSTEM

(1) General. The Talisman GL is f i t t e d w i t h a Trumatic-s 3000 f a n


a s s i s t e d h e a t e r which is s i t u a t e d i n t h e compartment beneath t h e
wardrobe. The h e a t e r i s of t h e room s e a l e d combustion t y p e ,
e x h a u s t i n g p r o d u c t s of combustion t o t h e o u t s i d e of t h e v e h i c l e .
This f e a t u r e a l o n g with t h e P i e z o i g n i t i o n and flame f a i l u r e
r p o t e c t i o n system e n s u r e s complete s a f e t y of o p e r a t i o n . The g a s
t a p i s s i t u a t e d below t h e oven.
(2) I n s t r u c t i o n s f o r Use.

a ) Ensure t h a t t h e g a s b o t t l e v a l v e and t h e q u i c k - c l o s i n g
v a l v e i n t h e g a s supply a r e open.
b ) Switch on t h e h e a t e r (numbers 1-10) and p r e s s down t h e
c o n t r o l knob down t o t h e s t o p .
c ) A t t h e same time q u i c k l y p r e s s down t h e p e i z o i g n i t o r
s e v e r a l times u n t i l t h e flame l i g h t s . Keep t h e c o n t r o l knob
p r e s s e d down f o r approximately 1 0 seconds u n t i l t h e flame
f a i l u r e d e v i c e h a s responded.
d ) Observe f o r a f u r t h e r 1 0 seconds through t h e s l o t t o
confirm t h a t t h e flame h a s n o t been e x t i n g u i s h e d by a i r i n t h e
g a s s u p p l y ( c a u s e d by a c l o s e d v a l v e o r exchange of t h e
b o t t l e s ) . ON NO ACCOUNT RE-IGNITE BEFORE TWO MINUTES,
OTHERWISE THERE IS DANGER OF DETONATION. T h i s a l s o must be
observed i f an a l r e a d y r u n n i n g h e a t e r h a s been e x t i n g u i s h e d and
needs t o be r e l i t .

I f t h e g a s s u p p l y i s f u l l of a i r i t may t a k e up t o one minute


f o r t h e g a s t o a r r i v e a t t h e b u r n e r . To purge t h e a i r o u t ,
keep t h e c o n t r o l knob p r e s s e d down and c o n t i n u a l l y p r e s s down

Cleaning and Maintenance

f l a s h i n g . Hold knob i n f o r a minimum of 5 seconds.
(7) Leave e l e c t r o n i c i g n i t i o n switch i n ON p o s i t i o n , t o enable
f r i d g e t o r e l i g h t i n c a s e of gas flame becoming
extinguished.

240 Volt Operation

1. Ensure gas is switched o f f .

g) Useful Tips

It is important t o n o t e t h a t t h e 12 v o l t o p e r a t i o n i s only
intended t o be used w h i l s t t h e engine is running and t h e
v e h i c l e b a t t e r y i s being charged, and thus f o r 12 v o l t
o p e r a t i o n t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r is wired through t h e v e h i c l e
i g n i t i o n switch.
When a t r e s t f o r more than a s h o r t period t h e v e h i c l e
should be l e v e l l e d and t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r switched e i t h e r t o
gas o r mains voltage.
When o p e r a t i n g on mains v o l t a g e , t h e temperature i n t h e
r e f r i g e r a t o r is t h e r m o s t a t i c a l l y c o n t r o l l e d and can be
a d j u s t e d by means of thermostat knob. The 1 2 v o l t c i r c u i t
is n o t t h e r m o s t a t i c a l l y c o n t r o l l e d and t h e c o o l i n g u n i t
w i l l o p e r a t e a l l t h e time t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r i s connected t o
1 2 v o l t source and switched on.
12 v o l t o p e r a t i o n i s , t h e r e f o r e only intended t o be used
f o r r e l a t i v e l y s h o r t p e r i o d s , i e ; when t h e v e h i c l e is i n
motion. I t i s n o t intended f o r extended p e r i o d s of use

h) Temperature Regulation

always t o push t h e c a t c h down s o t h a t i t s lower end f u l l y
engages t h e p l a s t i c h o l e i n t h e t o p of t h e door b e f o r e
moving o f f , o t h e r w i s e t h e door may open and t h e c o n t e n t s of

j) Defrostinq

F r o s t w i l l g r a d u a l l y form on and i n t h e f r o z e n food s t o r a g e


compartment and on t h e f i n s a t t h e s i d e of t h i s compartment.
The r e f r i g e r a t o r , t h e r e f o r e should be d e f r o s t e d r e g u l a r l y ,
about once e v e r y week o r t e n days depending on t h e
c o n d i t i o n s of use.
To d e f r o s t , t u r n t h e g a s c o n t r o l knob o r t h e v o l t a g e
s e l e c t o r s w i t c h t o l o i , depending on which o p e r a t i o n is
b e i n g used. Remove t h e i c e t r a y and c o n t e n t of t h e
r e f r i g e r a t o r , wrap f r o z e n food i n s e v e r a l l a y e r s of c l e a n
newspaper and p l a c e t h e package i n a c o o l p l a c e .
To d e f r o s t a s q u i c k l y a s p o s s i b l e , a small d i s h of h o t ( n o t
b o i l i n g ) water may be p l a c e d on t h e i c e t r a y s h e l f and a
bowl o f h o t water on t h e c a b i n e t s h e l f , changing t h e h o t
water as n e c e s s a r y u n t i l t h e f r o s t h a s melted.

240 v o l t mains supply is a v a i l a b l e f o r t h e o p e r a t i o n of t h e i n t e r n a l

d. Water pump Master Switch. T h i s may be used t o i s o l a t e t h e w a t e r
pump. It should be switched o f f when t h e water pump is n o t is use.
e . 1 2 V o l t Socket O u t l e t . T h i s s o c k e t should be used o n l y w i t h t h e
plug s u p p l i e d . I t is s u i t a b l e f o r only 1 2 v o l t DC o p e r a t i o n up t o a
maximum of 1 0 amps. When c o n n e c t i n g t h e 1 2 v o l t p l u g it should be noted
t h e t h e c e n t r e t e r m i n a l i s POSITIVE and t h e o u t e r t e r m i n a l NEGATIVE.
f . Water Level I n d i c a t o r . I n o r d e r t o check t h e water l e v e l i n t h e
f r e s h water t a n k , p r e s s t h e push b u t t o n which w i l l g i v e an i l l u m i n a t e d
r e a d i n g ' o n t h e d i a l showing t h e s t a t e of t h e water l e v e l . I n o r d e r t o
c a l i b r a t e t h e water l e v e l gauge, j u s t f i l l t h e water t a n k f u l l y t h e n
p r e s s and hold 'READ' b u t t o n s e t t i n g t h e i n d i c a t o r t o t h e FULL p o s i t i o n
by use of t h e c a l i b r a t i o n knob.

(6) Battery/Second B a t t e r y . Both t h e v e h i c l e b a t t e r y and second


b a t t e r y a r e f u s e d with a 20 amp blade f u s e . It should be noted
t h a t t h i s f u s e p r o t e c t s t h e 12 v o l t c i r c u i t t o t h e c o n t r o l p a n e l
and caravan e l e c t r i c s o n l y . T h i s f u s e is f i t t e d a d j a c e n t t o t h e
p o s i t i v e t e r m i n a l of t h e v e h i c l e b a t t e r y / s e c o n d b a t t e r y . A 30 amp
b l a d e f u s e is f i t t e d between t h e v e h i c l e b a t t e r y and t h e second
b a t t e r i n o r d e r t o p r o t e c t a g a i n s t o v e r l o a d i n g of t h e second
b a t t e r y c h a r g i n g system.

IMPORTANT: THESE FUSE RATINGS MUST BE ADHERED TO WHEN REPLACEMENTS


ARE NEEDED.

(7) 240 Volt AC Mains Hook-Up. The mains c i r c u i t is p r o t e c t e d by an


RCCD ( R e s i d u a l C u r r e n t C i r c u i t Device) and two MCB's (Minature
C i r c u i t B r e a k e r s ) . These u n i t s a r e co-located and a r e found i n t h e
small cupboard t o t h e l e f t of t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r .
Operation o f RCCB. With mains hook-up connected t h e f o l l o w i n g

1. Switch t h e main RCCB ON, (which is i n t h e UP p o s i t i o n )

3. Return main s w i t c h t o ON p o s i t i o n .
4. Switch t h e 1 0 amp MCB t o t h e UP p o s i t i o n , ( O N ) . This

5. Switch t h e 6 amp MCB t o t h e UP p o s i t i o n , ( O N ) . This
c i r c u i t c o n t r o l s t h e 240 v o l t c i r c u i t . t o t h e
r e f r i g e r a t o r and t h e w a l l lamp.

(8) OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF SECOND BATTERY

General.

The second b a t t e r y is charged v i a t h e main v e h i c l e b a t t e r y by


t h e e n g i n e a l t e r n a t o r . Wired between t h e b a t t e r i e s i s a 70 amp
r e l a y which, when t h e e n g i n e is running, a l l o w s a c h a r g i n g
c u r r e n t t o p a s s t o t h e second b a t t e r y . When t h e i g n i t i o n is
turned o f f , t h e r e l a y c u t s o f f t h i s i s o l a t i n g t h e second
b a t t e r y from t h e main v e h i c l e b a t t e r y . When t h e second b a t t e r y
i s f i t t e d , a l l auxiliary equipment f i t t e d by Auto-Sleepers is
wired through it t h u s e n s u r i n g t h e main b a t t e r y remains
charged.

Maintenance.

s i t u a t e d i n t h e c e n t r e o f t h e o f f s i d e s k i r t . A waste water t a n k i s
a l s o f i t t e d a s s t a n d a r d . The water system is f e d by a t r i p l e
diaphram water pump and non-toxic h o s i n g is used throughout. The
w a t e r t a n k f i l l e r is found on t h e c e n t r e o f f - s i d e of t h e v e h i c l e .

b. Water Level I n d i c a t o r . The water l e v e l i n d i c a t o r is f i t t e d i n


t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n t r o l p a n e l and is o p e r a t e d by t h e p r e s s
b u t t o n a d j a c e n t t o t h e gauge.

c. Water Pump. The water pump is s e l f priming and i n c o r p o r a t e s


its own p r e s s u r e s w i t c h . It is recommended t h a t t h e w a t e r pump
master s w i t c h be switched o f f when t h e v e h i c l e is t ~ a v e l l i n go r
i s unattended.

d. Water F i l t e r . The w a t e r f i l t e r is f i t t e d t o t h e t o p o f t h e
water pump. T h i s s h o u l d be checked p e r i o d i c a l l y and c l e a n e d a s
n e c e s s a r y . ( T h i s u n i t may be removed by unscrewing).

e. Water Tank. The water t a n k is f i t t e d w i t h b r e a t h e r s t o e a s e


t h e f i l l i n g p r o c e s s . When t h e t a n k is f u l l , w a t e r w i l l escape
through t h e s e b r e a t h e r s .

f. Waste Tank. The waste t a n k is f i t t e d t o t h e c e n t r e u n d e r s i d e


r e a r o f t h e v e h i c l e . The o u t l e t p i p e is t o be found i n a
r e t a i n i n g c l i p immediately under t h e rear s t e p ; t h i s
i n c o r p o r a t e s a d r a i n t a p on t h e end o f t h e p i p e . THIS TANK
SHOULD ALWAYS BE DRAINED BEFORE D R I V I N G AWAY FROM A SITE, OR AS
SOON AS PRACTICABLE TO AVOID CARRYING UNNECESSARY WEIGHT. The
d r a i n t a p is found a d j a c e n t t o t h e waste t a n k o u t l e t p i p e .
g. Shower Hand Basin. Soap and washing a c c e s s o r i e s should be
removed from t h e hand b a s i n b e f o r e i t i s r e t r a c t e d i n t o t h e
s t o r a g e p o s i t i o n . In t h e e v e n t of soap o r o t h e r t o i l e t items
being a c c i d e n t a l l y l e f t i n t h e b a s i n when f o l d e d away, t h e s e w i l l
remain i n t h e catchment a r e a immediately behind t h e hand b a s i n .
Access t o t h e catchment a r e a is achieved by removing t h e f o u r
p l a s t i c c a p s on t h e f a c e of t h e b a s i n u n i t and t h e n removing t h e
screws, The b a s i n u n i t may t h e n be withdrawn g i v i n g a c c e s s t o
t h e catchment a r e a and t h u s t h e misplaced items.
Note: The o u t l e t from t h e catchment a r e a may become blocked w i t h
f l u f f and d i r t ; should t h i s occur t h e o u t l e t should be c l e a r e d
c a r r y i n g o u t t h a t a c t i o n a s d e s c r i b e d above.

IMPORTANT: THE CATCHMENT B A S I N OUTLET SHOULD BE CHECKED AT LEAST


EVERY S I X MONTHS TO ENSURE THAT LOOSE D E B R I S I S NOT BLOCKING THE
DRAIN HOLE.

h. Water H e a t e r ; Manufacturers i n s t r u c t i o n s f o r t h e u s e and


maintenance of t h e water h e a t e r a r e provided with t h e v e h i c l e .
The f o l l o w i n g p o i n t s however s h o u l d be n o t e d :
1. Always d r a i n t h e water h e a t e r t o p r e v e n t f r o s t damage.
T h i s s h o u l d be done by unscrewing t h e k n u r l e d knob on
t h e water h e a t e r d r a i n t a p e x t e n s i o n p i p e which is found
by removing t h e panel below t h e water h e a t e r i n t h e
shower compartment.
2. I n t h e e v e n t of p u l s a t i n g flow from t h e h o t w a t e r
system, t h e temperature c o n t r o l knob should be t u r n e d
a n t i - c l o c k w i s e which should overcome t h i s problem.
3 . If t h e bottom p a n e l of t h e water h e a t e r box is removed,
it must be r e s e a l e d on reassembly.

Winter S t o r a g e . If t h e v e h i c l e is t o remain unused


d u r i n g t h e w i n t e r months t h e water system should be
f u l l y drained.

I N THE EVENT O F THE WATER HEATER B E I N G DRAINED AND THE


COLD SUPPLY USED, ALL HOT WATER T A P S SHOULD BE TURNED
O F F TO AVOID THE WATER ' F I L T E R I N G BACK'.
(12) The mains supply is p r o t e c t e d by a 2 amp 5mm x 20mm q u i c k blow
g l a s s f u s e of t h e bayonet f i x i n g type. The 12 v o l t o u t p u t is
p r o t e c t e d by a 1 5 amp 1%"g l a s s quick blow f u s e of t h e screw type.
Both t h e s e f u s e s a r e found i n t h e f a c i a of t h e Z I G DCU/3 which is
s i t u a t e d i n t h e cupboard a d j a c e n t t o t h e r e f r i g e r a t o r .

I t should be noted t h a t when t h e mains hook-up is connected and


switched on, t h e 1 2 v o l t a p p l i a n c e s o p e r a t e through t h e t r a n s f o r m e r
f a c i l i t y of t h e Z I G DCU/3: a t t h e sametime t h e second b a t t e r y is
b e i n g charged. Should t h e 1 5 amp f u s e i n t h e DCU/3 blow, t h e
caravan 1 2 v o l t e l e c t r i c a l system w i l l c e a s e t o o p e r a t e .

I t is f u r t h e r recommended t h a t t h e B a t t e r y Charger is n o t l e f t on
c o n t i n u o u s l y f o r lengthy p e r i o d s w i t h o u t t h e 1 2 v o l t f a c i l i t y being
used s i n c e o v e r h e a t i n g could damage t h e b a t t e r y c h a r g e r . It i s
a c c e p t a b l e , however, t o use t h e t r a n s f o r m e r f a c i l i t y of the Z I G
DCU/3 without a second b a t t e r y t o o p e r a t e t h e 1 2 v o l t f a c i l i t i e s i n
the vehicle.

( 1 3 ) WINDOW BLINDS
I t is recommended t h a t t h e window b l i n d s and f l y s c r e e n s be used
o n l y when c l i m a t i c c o n d i t i o n s d i c t a t e . A t a l l o t h e r t i m e s t h e y '
should be r e t r a c t e d s o t h a t t h e r e t u r n s p r i n g d e v i c e s do n o t remain
under t e n s i o n .

( 1 4 ) FLYSCREENS
Each roof v e n t i l a t o r is f i t t e d w i t h a f l y s c r e e n .

( 1 5 ) ELECTRICAL CLOCK

An e l e c t r i c a l q u a r t z c l o c k w i t h second hand i s l o c a t e d on t h e l e f t
hand wall of t h e wardrobe. The c l o c k r u n s o f f a 1% v o l t leakproof
b a t t e r y (An EverReady R6PP i s recommended). I n o r d e r t o r e p l a c e
t h e b a t t e r y simply p u l l o f f t h e cover i n t h e wardrobe. T h i s c o v e r
a l s o g i v e s a c c e s s t o t h e a d j u s t m e n t wheel.
MAINTENANCE

(1) WORK SURFACES. Laminated work s u r f a c e s a r e f i t t e d t o a l l f u r n i t u r e


u n i t s . W h i l s t t h e s e a r e h a r d wearing h o t pans s h o u l d n o t be p l a c e d
d i r e c t l y on t h e s e s u r f a c e s s i n c e damage c o u l d r e s u l t .

(2) FURNITURE. F u r n i t u r e should be c l e a n e d w i t h a p r o p r i e t a r y


f u r n i t u r e p o l i s h p e r i o d i c a l l y . Any water marks t h a t may o c c u r on
t h e hardwood e d g i n g o f t h e f u r n i t u r e u n i t s s h o u l d be removed by u s e
of f i n e g r a d e wire wool and f u r n i t u r e wax. Heavy s t a i n s may need
t o be sanded o u t and t h e edging r e - p o l i s h e d f i r s t w i t h a s h e l l a c
s e a l e r f o l l o w e d by a c o a t o f p o l y u r e t h e n e v a r n i s h and f i n a l l y b u f f e d
up w i t h wire wool and wax.

(3) S O F T F U R N I S H I N G S . S e a t s , c u s h i o n s and o t h e r s o f t f u r n i s h i n g s
s h o u l d be c l e a n e d w i t h a p r o p r i e t a r y f a b r i c c l e a n e r . It i s
i m p o r t a n t t h a t l i q u i d c l e a n i n g s o l v e n t s do n o t come i n c o n t a c t w i t h
c u s h i o n p i p i n g s i n c e t h e removable f o t h e f a b r i c m a t e r i a l w i l l
result.

(4) EXTERIOR PAINTWORK AND FIBREGLASS. E x t e r i o r paintwork and


f i b r e g l a s s s h o u l d be r e g u l a r l y washed and p o l i s h e d w i t h a
non-abrasive c a r wax.

(4) OPTIONAL ACRYLIC DUBLE GLAZED WINDOWS. G r e a t c a r e s h o u l d be t a k e n


i n t h e maintenance o f t h e s e windows and o n l y approved m a t e r i a l s
used f o r t h e c l e a n i n g t h e r e o f . When t h e f r o n t s e c t i o n o f t h e s e
windows is d e s i g n e d t o open, t h e r e a r window p a n e l can be moved t o
t h e f r o n t f o r c l e a n i n g by removing t h e r e t a i n i n g block which is

( 5 ) GAS VENTS. A l l g a s v e n t s and f l u e p i p e s s h o u l d be p e r i o d i c a l l y


checked f o r damage and s h o u l d be k e p t free from d i r t . IMPORTANT:

of butane r e g u l a t o r s , check t h a t t h e washer is i n p l a c e on t h e s p i g o t o f

r e g u l a t o r must be spanner t i g h t e n e d t o t h e c y l i n d e r v a l v e . (Note: The
thread is left-handed).

r a t e d a t 7.5 amp may be r e p l a c e d w i t h an 8 amp f u s e i n c a s e o f

OVERLOAD

3. Raise the alarm and call the fire brigade

FIRE PRECAUTIONS

1. Children should not be left alone in the Motor Caravan.

2. Keep combustible materials clear of all heating and cooking


appliances.

3. Provide at least one 2 kg fire extinguisher to IS0 7156 near


the main exit door and a fire blanket next to the cooker. Know
how to use them.

4. Check fire precautions on site.
