THE TIME

Asking the time :

What ‘s the time ?= Que hora es?

What is the time ?= Que hora es?

What time is it?

It’s three o’clock = It’s a quarter past six = Son las 6 :15
It’s half past seven = SON LAS 7: 30 . It’s five to three = Son 2 : 55

TELLING THE TIME

On a clock or watch , the short hand points to the hour . The long hand points to the minutes.

If the long hand points to the 12 it is exactly on the hour .

The time is 3 o’ clock.

If the long hand points to the 3 is a quarter past .

The time is a quarter past six .

If the long hand points to the 6 it’s 30 minutes past , or half past.

The time is 7 : 30 or half past seven .

If the long hand points to the 9 is a quarter to .

The time is 4 : 45 or a quarter to five.
