SCHOOL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION MANAGEMENT

I. INTRODUCTION
In accordance to the Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System Act of 2010 (RA 10121),
also known as at strengthening the Philippine DRRM System, providing the National DRRM Plan, appropriating
funds therefore and for other purposes. It serves as the legal basis for the creation of the DRRM offices in government
agencies and institutions and mainstreaming’s of DRRM in the policies, programs, budgets and plan formulation.
Lavides Elementary School, a barangay school in the district of General Luna. Characterized as a small, Multigrade
school inside a barrio. For only having 90 pupils enrolled, 5 teacher including the Teacher-In-Charge. Limited classrooms
and classes are combined. It is located in Barangay Lavides a remote area in the town due to armed conflict, but
collaboration was perfectly present in the community. A strong bind within the barangay strengthens the level of learning in
the said school.
This school were on their own best to comply on the standard school who was disaster ready and resilient on
upcoming happenings. The school performed the necessary task, in compliance of the DepEd Order No. 50 s, 2011
known as the creation of DRRM Office. The said order was to Instutionalize the Safety at all levels and ensure continued
delivery of quality education services in times of disasters and emergencies.

Education as the primary capital in building the nation should be going. It is necessary to continue education amidst
disasters. Considering that human capital started by educating the minds of the youngster in our society. Knowing the fact
that we are struggling in the situation that calamities are present, so that we need to have a concrete plan on how the school
itself promote a better and safe learning in what we are about to experience. Clearly we can surpass this challenge and yet
learning never stop.
In this action plan it focused on School Disaster Risk Reduction Management and its broad concept as part of the
curricula together with the different programs. This was to addressed the problems and issues for safety purposes. The low
level of compliance in every equipment in the school, the low level of knowledge in safety precautions. It also going to seek
assistance on the teacher’s capacity to cope in today’s changing environent. To parents as our partners great partners in
promoting learning in the school and home. Ensuring to implement this program based on basic education curriculum and
memorandums towards a great improvement in the quality of learning outcomes in this school year.
II. OBJECTIVES
A. General Objectives
The school focusing and aiming to provide a school ready for any disaster, well-equipped facility of all safety materials
and knowledgeable individuals in disaster reduction through great help of parents and other stakeholders in addition with
the innovation and dedication of competent teacher. To become a 100% school ready and resilient in disaster
preparenedness.
B. Specific Objectives:
Lavides Elementary School aims to achieve this specific objectives:
 Analyze school capacity by monthly monitoring of school facilities.
 Improve school readiness and resiliency in disaster.
 Design and develop disaster preparedness plan especially evacuation plan.

 Improve parent, teacher and pupils readiness and resiliency in disaster.

 Provide materials to address inadequacy of school equipment in SDRRM.
 Conduct of fire safety evaluation from partners and other stakeholders.
 Provide growth and development to teachers on the disaster preparedness through SLAC sessions and PTA meetings.
 Provide Technical Assistance (TA) to teachers to enhance their skill in disaster readiness and resiliency.

IV. EVALUATION
The school measures the level of performance of the school head, teachers, learners and school by conducting monitoring and
evaluation through online and actual observation using monitoring and assessment tool/checklist.
