Summary Frame for Story Text
Name: Daniel and the Lion’s Den Date: July 24, 2018
Text: The Book of Daniel Chapter 6
This story takes place when the satraps want Daniel to get rid of Daniel because they were
jealous of him.
The most important character is Daniel because he is loyal to King Darius and of course most
loyal to God.
Other characters in the story are the satraps / state governors that are jealous of Daniel, and King
Darius the King of Babylon.
The problem that gets this story going is the jealousy of the satraps led them into convincing
King Darius to sign a document ordering everyone to pray to him and worship him; and only
him.
When the characters try to solve this problem, here’s what happens:
First, Daniel did not pay any attention to the new rule and continues to pray to God at his
window facing Jerusalem. This led to the satraps to tell King Darius what Jonah was doing.
Second, even King Darius likes Daniel, he had no choice but to throw him into a lion’s den.
Daniel kept peaceful and didn’t argue with King Darius.
Third, In the next day, King Darius went to the lion’s den to see if Daniel is alive. Daniel
explained how he prayed to God and an angel showed up to protect him.
The problem is finally solved when King Darius believed Daniel and punished the people who
conspired against Daniel.
At the end of the story, King Darius issued a proclamation telling everyone to respect and fear
Daniel’s God.
From reading this story, I think the author wanted me to understand that when you believe that
God is always there to protect you, he will surely do. Like Daniel, he wasn’t afraid to show his
love and loyalty to God. God sees Daniel as a faithful servant, that is why he never cease to
protect him.

Text: The Book of Daniel Chapter 6
The topic of this reading selection is the faithfulness of Daniel upon God.
The main idea is that King Darius issued an order to only worship him, which challenges the
faithfulness of Daniel to God.
One detail that is important is the satraps convinced King Darius to sign the document about
everyone worshipping him. They were jealous of Daniel and want to find dirt on him.
A second detail that is important is that Daniel never cease to fail being faithful to God. He kept
on praying to God at the window facing Jerusalem causing him to be seen by satraps and ordered
to be thrown at lion’s den by King Darius.
A third detail that is important is when King Darius went back to the lion’s den, Daniel is still
alive. He explained how he prayed to God and an angel showed to protect him. Resulting King
Darius to punished those who conspired against Daniel and issued a proclamation to respect
Daniel’s God.
I think the author wrote this topic because the author wants everyone to understand that God
protects those who are faithful to him. Daniel is very faithful from beginning until the end of the
story. He did not flinch away from his faithfulness resulting God protecting him from the lions.

Author: Daniel
Point of View: Daniel is faithful to God from beginning until the end. Even with King Darius’
decree that he should be the only one to be worshipped, Daniel insisted and never cease to
worship God. Therefore, God protected Daniel during his time in the lion’s den. This also
convinced King Darius that Daniel’s God is to be respected and feared.
