This big bone comes from a Supersaurus. It died a long time ago. There were large
dinosaurs. They lived about 150 million years ago.
Supersauruses were very big animals. They were 30 meters long. That's three times
longer than a bus! They were 17 meters high. They had long tails and long necks. Their
heads were small. Supersauruses had four legs. Their front legs were shorter than their
back legs. They walked slowly.
Supersauruses were very heavy. They weighed about 50,000 kilograms. Elephants living in
Africa today weigh only about 6,000 kilograms. So Supersauruses were much heavier than
elephants!
Supersauruses lived in forests. They ate leaves from trees and other plants because they
were such big, heavy animals, they needed to eat a lot each day. Their long necks helped
them reach leaves high up in the forest trees. Scientists think that baby Supersaurus came
from eggs. They also think that Supersauruses lived for about 100 years!
