INTRODUCTION
MULTI SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY IS ESTABLISED
AS ON 02-June-2016 AS A Registered Societies (Non-Government)
IN UTTAR PRADESH.

In the vibrant city of Rampur, a remarkable transformation is

underway - one Fueled by the power of social awareness and
collective action. Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes
of [Talab Nihaluddin Khan], Rampur is not just a geographical
location; it is a community of individuals coming together to
drive positive change. The city's journey towards heightened
social awareness serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating the
potential of united efforts in addressing pressing issues and
fostering progress. At its core, social awareness involves
recognizing the challenges, inequalities, and opportunities that
exist within a community. Rampur, like many places, grapples
with a diverse array of social issues, including education
disparities, environmental concerns, healthcare access, and
economic inequality. However, what sets Rampur apart is its
unwavering commitment to addressing these issues head-on.
Healthcare, too, has witnessed a transformation. Rampur's
social awareness has led to the establishment of health clinics
in underserved areas, providing medical assistance to those
who previously had limited access. The city's response to
health crises, such as the recent [mention any relevant health
crisis], exemplified its ability to organize resources swiftly and
effectively, further underlining the importance of social
awareness. Economic disparities have not been overlooked,
either.
7

PROBLEMS FACED BY PEOPLE

Rampur, a city with a rich cultural heritage and a vibrant community, also
grapples with a range of challenges that impact the lives of its residents.
These issues, while diverse, underscore the need for concerted efforts and
innovative solutions to ensure a better quality of life for all.
8

one of the pressing issues in Rampur is the unequal access to quality

education. While strides have been made in improving educational facilities,
there still exists a significant gap between urban and rural areas. Lack of
proper infrastructure, shortage of qualified teachers, and limited resources
hinder the educational development of many children, perpetuating social
inequalities.

The lack of diverse employment opportunities in Rampur contributes to high

rates of unemployment and underemployment. Many educated youths find
themselves either without jobs or working in positions that do not match
their qualifications. This not only hampers personal growth but also impedes
the overall economic progress of the city.

Despite notable improvements, healthcare access remains a concern in rural

areas of Rampur. Limited healthcare facilities, particularly in rural areas,
and inadequate medical infrastructure pose challenges for residents seeking
quality medical care. The recent health crisis exposed the fragility of the
healthcare system and the need for more robust preparedness.

Rampur, like many other cities, faces environmental degradation due to

factors such as inadequate waste management practices and air pollution.
Rapid urbanization has led to increased waste generation, which strains the
existing waste disposal infrastructure. Additionally, pollution from vehicular
emissions and industries poses risks to public health and the environment.

Despite challenges, MULTI SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY’s

dedication to its mission and its ability to innovate, collaborate, and adapt
have enabled it to make a positive difference in the lives of many people.
These challenges also serve as opportunities for growth and improvement,
allowing the organization to refine its strategies and contribute more
effectively to global well-being.
9

PROBLEMS
1. Infrastructure Deficit: While there have been
improvements in infrastructure development, there
are still areas in Rampur that lack basic amenities
such as proper roads, clean water supply, and
sanitation facilities. Insufficient infrastructure not
only affects daily life but also impacts economic
growth and overall city development.

2. Water Scarcity: Water scarcity is a significant

concern, particularly during dry seasons. Inadequate
water supply and inconsistent distribution patterns
affect rural areas, impacting daily routines and
agricultural activities. Sustainable water
management strategies are crucial to mitigate this
challenge.

3. Poverty and Economic Disparities: Despite

progress, poverty and economic disparities persist in
Rampur. Lack of access to financial resources, skill
development opportunities, and social safety nets
contribute to a cycle of poverty that affects a
significant portion of the population.
10

In addressing these challenges, it is essential for

Rampur's community, along with government
authorities and non-governmental organizations, to
work collaboratively. Initiatives aimed at improving
education quality, promoting skill development,
enhancing healthcare infrastructure, implementing
effective waste management practices, and
advocating for social inclusion can contribute to a
more prosperous and equitable Rampur.

The challenges faced by Rampur are not

insurmountable. With a collective commitment to
change and innovation, the city can overcome these
issues, paving the way for a brighter future where all
residents can enjoy an improved quality of life and
increased opportunities for growth and development.

REPORT on Engagement in Project

Executive Summary: -

This report outlines the initiatives and achievements of Project Concern International
collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Project (UPRLP), locally known as
JEEVIKA. Over the past few years, organization has worked closely with the SHG
group in association with JEEViKA.

About Project: -

MSDS’s has utilized the social capital created through SHGs to strengthen their
agency and decision-making skills to make them self-reliant. MSDS has delivered
PACE curriculum to enhance psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills of
SHG leaders to help them make informed decisions, solve problems, think critically
and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with
others, and cope with and manage their lives in a healthy and productive manner.

Objectives of the Project:

• Improve agency and resilience of SHG leaders by developing self-confidence,

negotiation and communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making,
and strengthening peer support and leadership skills.
• Increasing awareness on financial and legal literacy, social entitlements,
efficient execution of tasks, and general and reproductive health
• Enabling SHG leaders to effectively perform their leadership role and undertake
collective action to address various local and global issues and challenges such
as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Climate Change, etc.
• Create a pool of three hundred community leaders to cascade the life-skills
training to the last mile through community institutions.

Geography of the Project:

• This project is being implemented in 3 clusters of block in RAMPUR and

MORADABAD District. Project aims to empower approximately 20,000 SHG
members in a cascade form of training by creating trainers at CLF level.

Brief note on my engagement: -

DAY 1:-

I got brief by MR. Faeem sir about the project.

Project information and methodologies were fairly explained to me for my clear

understanding on the project. Getting knowledge about SHG, Jeevika (UPRLPS),
Village Organization, Cluster Level Federation, Community Mobilisers didis were
totally different for me as I am not aware of these social development practices being
conducted in community. I got an opportunity to get knowledge on training contents
23

and its outcomes. I grabbed this opportunity of having detailed study on training
modules like:-

• Communication
• Problem solving and Decision Making
• Time and stress management
• Water and sanitation
• Financial lliteracy
DAY 2 to 3:-

I got an opportunity to visit “sarai” with the MSDS’s training team. The team was
engaged in providing training to the C.M didi on components of communication. In the
training sessions I also got opportunity of participating in group work and understand
how these trainings are effective SHG members in a positive way. 20 to 25 C.M didi
were participating in the training. The training that they got they will help them to apply
in their daily life to make it easy and accessible to their entitlements.

DAY 4 and 5:-

In these 2 days I visited 5 SHG meetings in different villages where SHG meetings
were being conducted and in the same meeting PACE curriculum were also being
delivered. They were taking high interest in participating in group exercises and know
more about how communication will help them in their day-to-day assignments.

OBSERVATION:-

It's a great initiative by PCI to provide training to jeevika SHG members. The life skill
sessions were they know about better way to communicate to the people, well
behavioral, health, sanitation, and they all things learn by practical method. With the
help of this life skill session many changes in their life like they be a good speaker,
improved their decisions make ability, confidence, money handling, social awareness
and many more, some of them have ability to be a good leader or to represent their
place to very well. I think it's a great initiative to Women Empowerment.

These steps taken by MSDS reflect their commitment to empowering People by addressing
various dimensions of their lives and enabling them to lead more empowered, fulfilled, and
self-sufficient lives.
29

CONCLUSION
For those who have social empowerment is essential and both a process and
an outcome. The Three levels listed below are normally where social
empowerment is implemented:
1. The Individual Level - This is the level at which the person actively want
to engage in life and values himself or herself.
2. Family Level - This is where the family receives help and advice.
3. Community Level - This is where an awareness campaign can be carried
out.

In conclusion, MSDS RAMPUR multifaceted initiatives for

people's empowerment exemplify a comprehensive and
holistic approach towards equality and social progress.
Through vocational training, financial literacy workshops,
self-help groups, and health awareness programs, MSDS
has equipped people with the skills, knowledge, and
confidence to break down barriers, challenge norms, and
contribute to their communities' development. By fostering
leadership, advocating for legal rights, and promoting
education, MSDS has created a transformative
environment where women are no longer passive recipients
but active participants in shaping their destinies. The
organization's commitment to empowering people, not only
through economic means but also by addressing social,
cultural, and educational aspects, underscores the profound
impact of their efforts on individual lives and the larger
society. As MSDS continues to forge ahead in its journey of
people’s empowerment, it paves the way for a more
equitable, inclusive, and empowered Uttar Pradesh, where
People’s potential is harnessed to create a brighter future
