1. NCD are degenerative and uncurable.
2. NCD are diseases of the elderly.
3. NCD are diseases of the rich.
4. Difficult to implement.
5. expensive
6. ineffective
Activity 1.2: Prove it!
1. NCD are degenerative and uncurable.
- Keep in mind that there are no treatment options that lead to curing a non-communicable disease
from your body. Instead, your doctor may prescribe medications and recommend lifestyle
changes to improve your symptoms.
2. NCD are diseases of the elderly.
- People of all age groups, regions and countries are affected by NCDs. These conditions are often
associated with older age groups, but evidence shows that more than 15 million of all deaths
attributed to NCDs occur between the ages of 30 and 69 years.
3. Difficult to implement.
- Challenges of non-communicable disease prevention are lack of preventive infrastructure,
restrictions on access to medicine, restrictions on primary health care and restrictions on access
to technology.
4. Expensive
- The exorbitant costs of NCDs, including treatment which is often lengthy and expensive,
combined with loss of income, force millions of people into poverty annually and stifle
development.
5. Diseases of the rich.
- Non-Communicable Diseases are often thought of as “diseases of the rich”, NCDs comprise
about 60% of global mortality, with approximately 80% of the deaths occurring in low- and
middle-income countries.

Module 3: Ways to Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases

Activity 1: Advise-able
My advice is
for Pedro to think about his mental and physical health. He should start by controlling himself from
playing too much mobile games because he can have a bad eyesight because of that. He should also
have enough sleep by sleeping at the right time and not until midnight. Pedro should avoid eating too
much junk foods and learn to like eating healthy and nutritious food.

Aside from the advice you already gave, what other practices can you give to Pedro fir a healthier
lifestyle?
- Pedro should ask help from his parents or to a doctor for more healthy advices. He should
always remember that his health is the most important thing to be able to live a happy life.
