1. NOMADIC HERDING

Pastoral nomadism, one of the three general types of nomadism, a way of life of peoples who do not
live continually in the same place but move cyclically or periodically. Pastoral nomads, who depend
on domesticated livestock, migrate in an established territory to find pasturage for their animals.

The patterns of pastoral nomadism are many, often depending on the type of livestock, the
topography, and the climate.

There are two types of pastoral societies: nomadism and transhumance. The nomads migrate
according to the changing seasons from one area to another to meet the needs of their animals. The
locations vary from season to season
