ACKNOWLEDGMENT
First, I would like to thank the teachers at Thai Nguyen University of
technology who have taught, passing on the knowledge that is rewarding to me.
That knowledge was the basic foundation, the precious practices that made my first
steps into my career and made it possible for me to finish my internship.
The internship was short, but I actually learned valuable experiences of
specialized knowledge, spirit of solidarity, teamwork and communication skills to
make the way for later work.
I would like to thank you very much for the introduction and dedicated help
of the teachers in the department and the managers of the Lens-G department.
SAMSUNG Company has given me valuable lessons!

ABSTRACT
In recent years, the investment cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea
has been very strong. According to Vietnam Trade and Industry Federation
(VCCI), South Korea and Vietnam are still key partners in Southeast Asia, the
fourth largest investor in Vietnam. South Korea is the largest investor and will be
the largest in the next five years. Currently, more and more Korean enterprises
come to invest in business and reap many successes in Vietnam, contributing to the
overall growth of the economy. One of the most successful Korean companies in
Vietnam is Samsung. Since investing in Vietnam, Samsung factories have grown
steadily, contributing significantly to the state budget, creating jobs for local and
neighbouring workers, especially Samsung's discounted quota, which has
contributed a huge proportion to Vietnam's annual discount quota. During this
internship, I've been exposed to some of the advanced telephone manufacturing
technologies from advanced electronic components and mechanical equipment and
components necessary for electromagnetic circuit boundaries. Most of the work is
applied to industrial automation for improvement and it has saved people's labor
and can replace more workers, improving both the quality and quantity of the
output. It turns out that, in addition to learning theory in class, getting an internship
to get access to specialized machinery is very important because it allows you to
realize in a much more visual and practical way.

The term "Samsung" in the standard pronunciation is "Xam-xoong" which

means three stars with the number three being considered the great power for
"something powerful". This name represents the desire of the corporate leader to
turn it into a giant corporation, a multinational corporation with a global influence.
Samsung started with just 30,000 won (about $27) and was founded by Lee
Byung-chul as a commercial company based in the city of Taegu in 1938. Called a

commercial company but actually, Samsung started out as a grocery store with
about 40 employees specializing in exports and imports of goods produced in and
around the city. The main products that the business is doing now are vegetables
and butter that the company produces. Samsung is known to be one of the leading
corporations today with headquarters in Korea. It is also the manufacturer of one-
fifth of the country's imports and exports, which has helped to put Samsung firmly
on the list of the largest companies in South Korea. Now, when we talk about
Samsung, we usually think of electronics, but the reality is that this company is a
much more multi-sector manufacturing business. With its subsidiaries, Samsung
reaches a wide range of industries from electronics, power industry, construction,
defence to advertising, marketing or entertainment,...
Let's find out more about Samsung Group through the article below to get a
full, most accurate understanding of this business!

2. History of formation and development of the Samsung Group:

Samsung is now referred to as one of the world's largest electronics

manufacturers, specializing in the manufacture of consumer, industrial, household
and digital communications devices, semiconductors, memory chips and integrated
systems. As of 2017, the company has a total asset of $265 billion and is
headquartered in Samsung Town, Seocho-gu County, Seoul, South Korea.

2.1. Starting from a clothing store:

Samsung started with just 30,000 won (about $27) and was founded by Lee
Byung – chul as a commercial company based in the city of Taegu in 1938. Called
a commercial company but actually, Samsung started out as a grocery store with
about 40 employees specializing in exports and imports of goods produced in and
around the city. The main products that the business is doing now are vegetables
and butter that the company produces. Soon after its establishment, the business
grew rapidly and expanded to Seoul. However, due to the outbreak of the Korean
War, business and production in Seoul were halted, and the company had to leave.

7
Internship report student: Luong Van Khoi

After the war ended, Mr. Lee Byung-chul resumed his business with the opening of
a sugar refinery in Busan, then expanded to the textile and construction industries.
Soon, soon after, Samsung continued to build South Korea's largest wool factory.
Samsung is known to be one of the leading corporations today with headquarters in
Korea. It is also the manufacturer of one-fifth of the country's imports and exports,
which has helped to put Samsung firmly on the list of the largest companies in
South Korea. Now, when we talk about Samsung, we usually think of electronics,
but the reality is that this company is a much more multi-sector manufacturing
business. With its subsidiaries, Samsung reaches a wide range of industries from
electronics, power industry, construction, defence to advertising, marketing or
entertainment,...
Let's find out more about Samsung Group through the article below to get a full,
most accurate understanding of this business! The term "Samsung" in the standard
pronunciation is "Xam-xoong" which means three stars with the number three
being considered the great power for "something powerful". This name represents
the desire of the corporate leader to turn it into a giant corporation, a multinational
corporation with a global influence. With production diversification from the
outset helping Samsung grow rapidly and successfully, the company continues to
expand its business into other sectors such as insurance, stock and retail. Along
with the wave of industrialization in South Korea, after the war, Samsung focused
on the industry that contributed to the re-development of South Korea. During this
period, Lee Byung’s business was much easier because he received benefits from
the new protection policy from the South Korean government that was in place
during that period. This policy supports large domestic corporations through their
protection from external competition and financial support.

2.2. From 1960 to 1980: engaging in the electronics industry:

In the face of the wave of technological revolution in the world, in the 1960s
Samsung gradually entered the electronics industry with the formation of a number
of divisions in the enterprise focused mainly on the following areas:
- Electronics.
- Mechanical.
- Semiconductor and telecommunications.
- Samsung Corning.

components, and then in 1970 the company produced its first black and white
TV, exporting electronics abroad and expanding its operations to shipbuilding,
petrochemicals, and other aircraft engines. Also in the 1970s, the company
continuously expanded its textile production process with a complete production

line from raw materials to finished products to enhance its competitiveness in the
market. Following successive success, the company continued to establish
subsidiaries such as Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Shipbuilding and
Samsung Precision Company (Samsung Techwin) as well as acquiring a 50% stake
in Korea Semiconductor. In the years that followed, Samsung boosted the
production of black and white TVs, colour televisions, refrigerators, computers,
air-conditioning, etc. By 1978, the company had reached the mark of 5 million
TVs. Before that, in 1974, Samsung Heavy Industries became one of the largest
shipbuilders in the world.

2.3. 1980-2000: Expansion of business to telecom hardware:

In 1980, Samsung began expanding its business into telecommunications

hardware with the initiation of the acquisition of Hangul Jeonja Tongsin. First, the
company built a telephone station, then expanded to telephone and fax systems,
and finally turned the field into cell phone production. In the 1980s, Samsung
expanded to Germany, Portugal and New York. In 1982, Samsung Printing
Solutions was founded. The company's subsidiary provides digital solutions for the
printing industry. The following year, the company started producing personal
computers, and by 1984, Samsung's revenue reached one trillion won. At the end
of the decade, Samsung expanded to Tokyo and the UK, positioning itself as the
leader in semiconductor manufacturing with massive outputs of 256K DRAM.
In 1987, founder Lee Byung-chul died and his son, Lee Kun-hee, took over
Samsung. Soon after, Samsung Semiconductor and Telecommunications merged
with Samsung Electronics. The merger focuses on household appliances,
telecommunications and semiconductors. In the decades that followed, Samsung
continued to grow rapidly to become the world's leading chip manufacturer,
founded Samsung Motor and entered digital TV production. The strength of this
business rapidly grew to become a designer and manufacturer of components for
other companies, while striving to be the world's largest electronics manufacturer.
In 1999, Samsung Ventures was founded to invest in core services.

2.4. From the year 2000 to the present:

Reaching the phone giant: Samsung enters the phone market with the SPH-
1300, a first-ever touch screen prototype released in 2001. The company also
developed its first voice recognition phone in 2005. In the late 2000s and early
2010s, Samsung acquired technology developers for electronic devices. In 2011,
Samsung released the Galaxy S II, followed by Galaxy S III in 2012, one of the

9

most popular smartphones in the world. 2012 also marked Samsung becoming the
world's largest mobile phone manufacturer and the acquisition of mSpot to provide
entertainment to Samsung device users. The company has made more acquisitions
in the years ahead, including organizations that will help them expand services in
the areas of health technology, smart TVs, OLED displays, home automation, print
solutions, cloud solutions, payment solutions, and artificial intelligence. In
September 2014, Samsung announced the Gear VR, a virtual reality device
developed for use with the Galaxy Note 4. By 2015, Samsung had more US patents
approved than any other company, with more than 7,500 utility patents granted by
the end of the year. In 2017, Samsung was authorized by the government to test
self-driving cars. Next year, Samsung announced that it would expand its
renewable energy plan and hire 40,000 employees over the next three years.

2.5. Vision and achievements:

In 1993, President Kun-Hee Lee presented a detailed plan for Samsung's

global success in the 21st Century with his "New Management" statement that
includes intellectual capital, institutional innovation, technological innovation and
empowerment of employees as key strategies for Samsung’s profitable growth in
an age of unceasing global competition. The implementation of the "New
Management" begins by encouraging each employee to change within himself, try
to care more about others and behave morally. Today, performance at Samsung is
measured qualitatively, not quantitatively. Moreover, international competitiveness
is an important goal, achieved through multi-faceted integration of facilities as well
as the development of global information systems. Samsung's ultimate goal is to
improvements in quality of life worldwide by succeeding as a leading enterprise in
the 21st century. For the past half a century, Samsung employees have been guided
by a corporate philosophy that says, "We will devote our people and our
technology to creating products and services that outperform evil, thereby
contributing to a better global society." Today, this business philosophy is to merge
all of Samsung's companies. Through advanced global management, Samsung is
now capturing emerging business trends around the world, enabling it to react
quickly to global changes. The year 2000 was declared "Samsung's First Year in
Digital Management". Through this announcement, Samsung aims to be the winner
in the digital age of the 21st Century through leading initiatives based on
pioneering spirit and strategic management of choice and focus, as well as by
raising the standards of the next generation - digital convergence technology
eration. Innovation has long been a key factor in Samsung's success, making it a
"first man" in many new product developments and technological breakthroughs.
Its commitment to novation continues to be stronger than ever. For example,
10

Samsung Electronics, which has been in the world top 10 in US patents for four
consecutive years, has 13,000 searchers representing a $1.7 billion investment in
R&D. As Samsung expanded its global presence and recognition, it did not lose
contact with its Korean roots. Samsung continues to be the leading influencer and
key supporter of the Korean economy, society and culture.

INTERNSHIP PROCESS
1. Working process

The internship starts from March 18, 2024 to June 18, 2024. In these three
months, I've learned a lot and been trained to get started. On the morning of March
18, 2024, I moved into Samsung's dorm with a lot of new things, very clean and
well-equipped accommodation, supermarket, library, gym, yoga gym, karaoke
theater, soccer court, volleyball, basketball and large lawn so that employees can
relax after a hard day of work. On March 18th and 19th, I had two days of training
on the knowledge needed to work in the company. When I finish my training, I'm
divided into different sections. It's the first time I've entered a factory with a lot of
regulations like new phone stamps and where you're going to have to put a
checklist, as well as the factory entrance, the dining house and the resting area.
Entered the workshop, I worked in a clean room with a lot of pre-trained
regulations and was guided by a staff manager. The quality of the meals at
Samsung is guaranteed so you can work for a day, and the rest hours are
reasonable

2. Prepare for work

Before starting working, I had a training session on the skills needed and the
rules to follow. First I got an overview of the company, recording in the company
if you want to bring electronic device in, it’s needed to have security stamps and
phone stamps orange, especially not to carry flammable objects, sharp instruments
like knives, pull into the company. If you want to travel in a company, you need a
license card, and in a factory, you have to have a clean room card. Then I was
equipped with the skills to do whatever it takes in the event of a fire, and I was
instructed by my brother and sister in the steps to put on clean clothes when
entering the workshop, including seven steps:
-Step 1: Wear the gloves
-Step 2: Wear mask
-Step 3: Wear paper hats
-Step 4: Wear a clean room hat
-Step 5: Wear clean room clothing
-Step 6: Wear shoes
-Step 7: Wash hands

15
Internship report student: Luong Van Khoi

Figure 5: Workers' costume in clean room

Wearing this clean room clothes will help to ensure safety at work and also to
avoid dust when moving. Indeed, working in a professional environment has a lot
of rules, but it is thanks to these rules that Samsung Electro - Mechanics has
become the world's leading manufacturer of electronic components.

The internship schedule starts on March 18, 2024 and ends on June 18, 2024.
Over the last three months, I've learned a lot and been trained to get started.

3. Working section
3.1. Allocating of work

Typically, students will experience internships in three major departments:

LENS, MODULE and ACTUA. In addition, some students who pass another
round of company selection have the opportunity to work in the office. In each
workshop there is basically the following grading scheme: Shift Leader, Line
Leader, Sub Leader, Quality staff, repair staff (PM), direct staff.

3.2. My section - Lens-G

We were given clean clothes including clean clothing and clean shoes. Before
entering the workshop, we were trained to dress in a clean room: wearing rubber
sleeves -> wearing masks -> wear paper hats -> wear clean room clothes -> walk
shoes -> wash your hands with clean water and dry.
Then we're gonna have to go through the electrostatic door, get into the air show,
blow up all the dust, all the debris, and then we get to the Lens factory.

16
Internship report student: Luong Van Khoi

4. Working hours
In Korean companies in general and SamSung in particular, it's important to
get to work on time. That's why we're so serious about getting to work on time.
Working hours are divided into days and nights. The day starts from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m., for administrative staff, not OT and until 8 p. m. for OT staff. Nightingals
start from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for non-OT staff and 8 p. m. for OT staff.
Meal duration: The main meal is divided into two meals, each lasting for an
hour, and the supplementary meal lasts for 40 minutes. Every day, one from 11:30
to 12:30, two from 12:30 to 13:30, a meal from 17:30 to 18:10, from 18:510 to
18:50, nights from 23:30 to 00:30, from 00:30 to 01:30, an meal of 5:55 to 06:35,
from 6:35 to 07:15. The main meal and the subplant meal are free.
5. Work at: Lens department, singer lens
Job assigned: barrel injection.
Job description : At the singer wool stage, I was allocated to standing on the
production line. My workplace is barrel injection area, my job contains operating
magnet attachment machines.
6. Advantages and disadvantages
6.1 Advantages
During the internship, the company gave me a lot of benefits in the work and
learning process, earning many successes. I received enthusiastic and thoughtful
guidance from the interns, and when don't understand or have any questions about
the job, the guide willing to help solve problems. Having trained and worked at a
leading Korean company in Vietnam, I learned the spirit of responsibility and
professionalism when working in a highly dynamic professional environment,
helping me to get a better understanding of the Korean working style and culture.
Through this, it contributes to the development of speech and mental development.
Besides, I also gained a lot of knowledge about specialized machinery and
manufacturing processes, making a solid cover for later work.
6.2 Disadvantages
Besides the advantages, I've had some difficulties during my internship.

17
Internship report student: Luong Van Khoi

The real working environment is different when you study at school. While the
theories in the school can be very heavy in theory, when applied, they don't apply
much to work. My job requires more practical skills.
Time pressure : Because you go to work at least 15 minutes earlier.
Additionally, changing the hours of sleep according to the circumstances makes
transition days very exhausting, making day and night changes in sleep as well as
sleeping hours, so adjusting the schedule so that it is reasonable and balanced is
difficult from the first days.
Work Pressure: When you used to focus on your studies in the past years, you
now have to balance your work for a while: study, internship, graduate thesis, etc.
When you do your first job, you're vulnerable to criticism or control, to pressure on
standards, colleagues, leaders.
7. Self evaluation
Three months of internship isn't too short or too long, but it's enough for me to
see the gaps that make me better and better. At the same time, exposure to new
relationships has helped us from a quiet introvert to a vibrant and enthusiastic.
The new environment, the encounter with new people, helped me completely
change myself. Learn to be self-reliant, manage time and organize work. Make the
most of your strengths to learn and cultivate your experience as a mask for the next
step.
The internship has given me so many valuable, practical lessons that I thought
I could learn only by going to the internships. From the experience I gained after
the internship, I got a stronger track on my career.
Besides the advantages, I realize that I have many limitations in my work
environment. When I walked from the classroom to the workplace, I didn't take
initiative in the fact that my sleeping hours led to a hurry to go to work. Because
anxiety doesn't do the job well, and because of the initial shyness, I'm just looking
into the job and forgetting an opportunity, and almost the main purpose of each
internship is to train my communication skills with my superiors and
colleagues.Work pressure, time pressure, and relationships at work are the things
that always make me feel hard in the workplace.

18
Internship report student: Luong Van Khoi

Besides, the workload was more demanding than I could at present, but
because of my passion for the job, I was constantly striving, learning and
improving my productivity to overcome that difficult journey.
Internships are an opportunity for us to get close to the workplace. The
internship was a valuable experience that gave me a lot of experience and skills
from the first crashes in my job, helping me grow up.

CONCLUTION
1. Evaluation of the working environment at the company
Samsung is a multinational company from South Korea, which also has a very
strong investment in the Vietnamese market when in Beijing and Taipei are the two
sites of the company's manufacturing plants.
Samsung Electro-Mechanic Vietnam is one of the largest plants invested by
Samsung in Vietnam. It's an electronics company with a lot of high-end products
and market popularity. However, the company is not only interested in investing in
production to create modern products, it is also concerned about the lives of
employees with many good welfare regimes so that employees have favourable
conditions in work and life.
1.1 Infrastructure
The company has provided me an ideal working environment, full of
infrastructure, machinery and equipment for the job. Equipment and supplies
guaranteed quality. In addition, the company is equipped with sensor devices to
ensure the safety of employees while operating the machinery.
In order to provide a working environment for employees in addition to
keeping the manufacturing facilities clean and airy, resting areas are arranged
throughout the facilities. Outdoor green spaces are also invested by the company
with green systems, resorts and green parks designed by the firm near
manufacturing buildings create a convenient space for employees to rest after work
hours.
A spacious, clean dining system with a capacity of 1000 seats with a selection
of meals and different meals to ensure the nutrition of each employee. And
especially to encourage, encourage the spirit of work enthusiasm for employees,
every month the company syndicates have a “special meal” with special delicious
food for all employees, through which the attention, dedication from the company
to all employees.
In addition, the company attaches great importance to building a corporate
culture and developing people through the training, performance and working
attitude of its superiors towards employees. Experienced in a professional working
environment, work is not too stressful, people are friendly and have fun with each
other, the chief of the company, gives us a comfortable working space, a spirit of

work. So we can be more proactive in learning and supporting each other in our
work.

Figure 6: worker’s meal

And what I most impressed with is the modern hostel system that supports the
staff away from home with all the essential equipment available to the staff: air
conditioning, washing machines, dining rooms, make-up rooms, supermarkets,
hairdressing, library, karaoke rooms that create the best recreational space,
relaxation for the staff.

1.2 Salary and welfares
Samsung is known to be one of the companies with the best wage and welfare
schemes to satisfy Vietnamese workers. The level of remuneration and the staffing
regime of the company depends on the position and the title in the company. For
manufacturers, the basic salary is VND 6 million a month. The general real salary
of the workers is usually between 7 and 8 million a month. To raise their earnings,
Samsung workers get overtime work and pay 150% of their official hours. Thus,
the monthly income of the worker can reach more than VND 10 million. Korean
translators at Samsung have a fairly good salary of about 10 to 15 million a month.
Technical positions, engineers or managers, senior officers, have higher salaries
and rewards. These positions are assessed annually and pay well according to their
contributions, typically between VND 18 – 25 million/month.
In addition to the company's salary policy, employees also benefit from
benefits such as: employee transportation, hostel support for employees far away
from home, bonuses, benefits, awards for excellent employees, Samsung Family
Day...
The company's working environment is also calculated to ensure the health of
its employees. All employees are given half-time breaks, i.e. every two hours of
official eight-hour work they are given a 10-minute break.
At the end of the year, employees in the company get regular health checks to
ensure their health meets their job needs.

22
Internship report student: Luong Van Khoi

With the motto “People are the first and most important factor”, it is for every
employee to get the best knowledge to complete the job, the company has invested
a training center called “Centre for Talent Development”, where the training
courses from the employee's entry into the company to higher management
training, employees will be trained all the most basic knowledge about work, way
of working, knowledge of life...
Through this I see that the company is highly valued in building corporate
culture and human development, the company's staff are working with
remuneration, well-behaved, regularly trained to improve their professional career,
have many opportunities for fair development and promotion.
2. Experiences and lessons learned
During my three-month internship at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, I've
learned a lot of rewarding knowledge and experience. Stepping into the Samsung
gate is new, unusual, but at the end of the internship, it's painful, unwilling to
leave. Maybe this will be a beautiful memory I'll never forget. At the beginning of
the work was very slow and disappointing, but thanks to the dedicated colleagues,
instructions so I quickly integrated, keep up with the progress of production. At the
same time, he learned specialized vocabulary in production. Working in a dynamic
and professional environment, I learned not only knowledge, but also
communicative behavior, high-level working practices, and especially Korean
timeliness rules. Thanks to this, the work is completed with the highest quality of
the product and achieved sufficient output. Not only that, while working here, I've
been able to meet and work to create more good relationships with other interns
and brothers and sisters in the workshop, have more practical experiences that will
help a lot in my future work and life.
In fact, internship is the process of practical experience, applying the
knowledge learned into production practice, thus helping to recognize the
strengths, weaknesses, and shortcomings of one's own. Thanks to this internship, I
realized that my communication skills were very limited, and sometimes my work
was wrong, which led to a loss of time. From that, to gain experience for yourself
is to always be confident to learn, to work, to learn more office skills, always focus
high when working. Always having fun, being in harmony with everyone, trying to
learn from the experiences of the brothers and sisters before to do well the work
entrusted. Besides speaking skills, listening skills are also important, not just
focusing on speaking but listening to understand people, not doing what you want.

After this internship, I also realized that teamwork skills are extremely important,
to create a wool requires a lot of work and effort of many people, without
understanding and looking at each other working will not be able to produce good
quality products. Just like in life, if you're so selfish, always thinking about
yourself above the interests of the community, it's hard for the individual to
succeed. All the knowledge, experience, learning, accumulated at SamSung has
helped us to become more perfect, is a precious practice to move ourselves
forward, not to be disappointed in going to the job interview later.
