Service Bulletin

Correcting crosstalk problems in early Electribe versions

Problem
Very early versions of the Electribe A had a problem with crosstalk between channels 1 and 2.
This problem only affected units with serial numbers between 000101 and 003732.

Solution
Replace C38, C39, C80, and C81 on KLM-2092 with jumpers.

Procedure

1. Remove the 11 front panel knobs. (Leave the encoder knob)

2. Remove the 4 bottom panel screws and the 2 screws near the MIDI jacks.
3. Remove the bottom panel.
4. Remove the encoder knob by pushing it with a screwdriver, through the hole provided on the circuit board.
5. Remove the 8 screws holding in the PC board.
6. Remove the main board by sliding it away from the jacks, while gently pushing on the power switch knob.
7. Remove C38, 39, 80, and 81. Each is a 10湩 16v electrolytic cap.
8. Install a zero ohm resistor, or a jumper wire, in place of the caps you have removed.
9. Re-assemble the unit, making sure that all the connectors are firmly in place.
10. Check that all switches and knobs work correctly and that the level of crosstalk has been drastically reduced.
