• Background:
▪ This section of the proposal requires a few succinct sentences that
clarify the problem your proposal is tackling.
▪ Here, it is critical to explain the current state of the problem and why
your audience should care about solving it. Make sure to include
references and statistics in this section.
• Objectives/Overall Purpose:
▪ Use this section of the proposal to explicitly list the goals that the
project is trying to achieve.

• This is where you detail the plan for how your objectives will be
achieved.
• Indicate the following:
• what is your plan, approach, or strategies that will be used in

5. PROPOSED BUDGET
• Your proposal should include a budget outline
• Break your budget down into categories, such as supplies, tools,
salary, etc. Include all overhead and indirect costs.

• End your proposal with a conclusion that briefly summarizes
the problem, solution, and benefits. Emphasize the significant
