Since the first Starbucks location in Kuala Lumpur opened on December 17, 1998, the
company has grown to include Sabah and Sarawak and, with around 3,800 workers, has
exceeded the milestone of 225 locations. As it enters its 17th year of business, Starbucks has
become not only Malaysians' favorite coffee shop but also a useful community contributor.
Along with providing coffee, Starbucks innovated over the years under Sydney's direction to
open up new markets. Starbucks VIA®, an instant and micro-ground coffee that delivers an
expertly roasted, distinctively delicious cup of Starbucks perfection in an instant, was
launched in Malaysia in 2011. The new drive-thru concept outlets were launched by
Starbucks Malaysia as part of its attempts to adapt to the fast-changing global landscape.

Customers now have the choice to drink their preferred coffee at the shop if they'd rather
stretch their legs and unwind, or they may drink it on the move thanks to this new platform.
Starbucks drive-thru concept outlets may be found all across Malaysia's peninsula. Sydney
inspired Starbucks to launch the Starbucks Card Mobile Application, which allows consumers
to make in-store purchases by scanning their smartphones at the counter, in order to increase
convenience for Starbucks Card users.
