Title: Standard Test Method for Burst strength

Objective: This test method is used to determine the Bursting strength.

Definition:
Bursting Strength tester is a measure of resistance to rupture when
subjected to controlled hydraulic Pressure.

Sample Selection:

 Take any type of Paper, Cardboard, Fiberboard, Corrugated box, Fabrics,

Plastics Films etc sample.

Test Procedure:

 Turn the mains switch on.

 Press tare and then reset button.
 Now load indicator will show Zero reading.
 Take a test specimen 100 mm x 100 mm.
 Move the upper clamp upwards by rotating the operating wheel in the anti-
clockwise direction.
 Place the test specimen so that it completely covers the lower clamp.
 Now rotate the operating wheel in clockwise direction to bring the upper
clamp down to hold the test specimen.
 Tighten the operating wheel to make sure that the test specimen is firmly
held and there will be no slippage.
 Press the push button.
 After the specimen burst there will be a buzzing sound from the machine and
the display will freeze and hold the peak value.
 For paper, switch to low capacity testing range.
Report

 Save the test result and provide the same to Factory head for approval.
 In case of discrepancies or result below acceptable level, intimate the
concern person immediately to take corrective action.
 Retest the fresh specimen from the same sample and record finding.
