About Chavara Youth

Chavara Youth is a vibrant community of young

individuals from Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.
We’re inspired by the teachings of St. Kuriakose Elias
Chavara and united in the youthfulness of Christ. Our
mission is to nurture spiritual growth, celebrate the
exuberance of youth, and connect with young hearts
across the globe through action enriched by prayer.

About YUVA
YUVA is an initiative of Chavara Youth, a catholic
organisation under the aegis of the Jayantian Catholic
Association of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, united
in the youthfulness of Christ in prayer and action. YUVA
stands for Youth United for Visionary Actions. It is a
dynamic venture inspired by the visionary legacy of St.
Kuriakose Elias Chavara for the Catholic Youth to
envision and embrace the mission of the Catholic
Church through sharing the gospel and celebrating the
Word of God. YUVA is a Global Fest of literary and
cultural competitions, organised to bring together
Catholic Youth around the world. It aims to provide a
platform for young minds to showcase their talents and
promote the spirit of unity and creativity among the
Catholic Youth.
 General Guidelines
o The Theme for this year is- “YOUTH AND THE
CHURCH”
o The participant must be a member of a youth
organization of a parish or of an educational
institution.
o The program will consist of individual and group
events. The participant can submit entries in the
following languages: English/ Hindi/ Kannada/
Malayalam/ Tamil.
o There is no restriction on the number of entries for
Individual events from a parish/ organization.
o Registration and submission will happen through
Google Forms.
o There will be two rounds for each event. Preliminary
rounds will be conducted online while the final
rounds will be conducted in campus, offline mode.
o For preliminary rounds, all entries submitted by the
participant must be recorded.
o Plagiarism in literary events is not encouraged. If
submissions are plagiarized, the participant will be
disqualified.
o The copyright of all submissions will be reserved
with the organizers.
 General Guidelines
o Entries of the finalists will be uploaded on the
official Instagram [@chavara youth] and the official
website [https://chavarayouth.com/] of the
organization.
o Please adhere to the deadline specified in the
guidelines of each event. Late submissions are not
encouraged and will not be accepted.
o Participants must name their submission as:
[Chest Number_Event Name]
E.g. [EE01_Elocution]
o Participants will have to pay a nominal registration
fee for both individual and group events.
o Participants have the option to register as a team
consisting of its parish /Organization members. They
will have to pay a fixed amount of Rs. 1500/-.
o Teams that are qualifying for the final rounds are
responsible for their own Transportation and
Accommodation. Assistance, if required, will be
provided from the organizer’s end.
o Winners will be awarded cash prizes worth INR
2,00,000/- and all participants will receive e-
certificates.
o All details regarding the fest will be available on the
official Instagram page [@chavara_youth] and the
official website.
o NOTE: Both prelims and finals for international
participants will be held online.
 Registration
o Registration commences on: January 10, 2024
o Registration ends on: February 25, 2024
o The submission date for the preliminary rounds is
from January 15, 2024 to February 29, 2024.
o The results for the preliminary rounds will be
announced on March 20, 2024.
o The final rounds and valedictory ceremony will be
held on April 14, 2024 (Venue: Kristu Jayanti
College, Central Campus, Bengaluru)

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

o Duration: 2-4 minutes
o Theme of the event must be based on Christianity.
o Only Christian devotional/Gospel songs/Instrumental music can
be used.
o Costumes and props can be used.
o Dress code must be modest and presentable in the video. Any
form of vulgarity is not allowed and can lead to disqualification.
o The video must be taken in landscape mode.
o Cutting and merging of the video is allowed but no special
effects can be added. If we find any discrepancy in the video and
audio, the participant will be asked to submit the original video.
The participants are requested to keep the original copy till the
results are announced.
o Audio should not have any sound effects (applause, hooting or
whistling).
o The file must be submitted in MP4 format and the size must not
exceed 500 MB.

(Malayalam/Kannada/Tamil/English/Hindi) are allowed. (Syrian
songs are also allowed).
o Dress code must be modest and presentable.
o Participants can use karaoke or instruments. Accompanists are
allowed.
o Studio recorded entry is also encouraged. A video of the
participant singing must be made. The video must be taken in
landscape mode.
o Video editing is allowed. If we find any discrepancy in the video
and audio, the participant will be asked to submit the original
video. Requesting the participant to keep the original copy till
the results are announced.
o The file must be submitted in MP4 format and the size must not
exceed 500 MB.

o Only Christian devotional/Gospel songs/Instrumental music can
be used. Costumes and props can be used.
o Dress code must be modest and presentable in the video. Any
form of vulgarity is not allowed and can lead to disqualification.
Dancers and all props used must be visible in the camera frame.
o The video must be taken in landscape mode. The video must be
recorded with proper lighting.
o Video editing is allowed. If we find any discrepancy in the video
and audio, the participant will be asked to submit the original
video. The participants are requested to keep the original copy
till the results are announced.
o Vulgarity in any form or inappropriate videos will lead to
immediate disqualification.
o Participants must provide good quality audio and video. Audio
should not have any sound effects (applause, hooting or
whistling).
o The file must be submitted in MP4 format and the size must not
exceed 500 MB.

o A photograph depicting the theme should be submitted.
o A caption for the photo must also be submitted.
o DSLR and mobile photography are accepted.
o The photograph submitted should be in JPG format. [Max 100
MB for each photo]
o There must not be any watermarks, copyright marks or any text
or graphic on the image.
o Cropping is allowed. Plagiarism, editing photos, post processing
and photo-manipulation are strictly prohibited and will lead to
disqualification.

o Only black and white drawings can be made. Only black pencils

o Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
o Time-lapse video of the participant drawing should be
submitted, the face and work of the participant must be visible,
failing which he or she will get disqualified.
o The video should be of MP4 format (500 MB). The time lapse
video will be asked later during the time of evaluation.

part of the speech from papers, notes, or cards.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

o Quiz is a team event of three members.
o The prelims event will be held via (Google Forms) and
concerned details and links will be shared to the participants
via respective WhatsApp group after the registration.
o There will be a total of 50 objective type questions with four
options and answers should be marked within instructed time.
o No marks will be awarded if the question is left unattended.
There is no negative marking.
o Finals will be conducted offline in Campus and selected
teams will be informed in due time.
o Any malpractices during the competition, if noticed may lead
to disqualification of the teams.
