WELCOMING REMARKS

Dear Delegates, Faculty, and Staff,

Esteemed Committee Chairs,
Valued friends, including those of tomorrow,

Welcome to Asia Youth International Model United Nations 2024. I am excited about
creating unforgettable memories that will shape who we are and the mark we leave in this
world.

My name is Jonas Bruns, and I will serve you as the Secretary-General. I am a German living
in Vienna, Austria, where I started my first job in strategy consulting after graduating with a
mechanical engineering master's.

My true passion, however, is Model United Nations. It's 10 years ago, I participated for the
first time in a Model UN during my high school days. Throughout university, it has been my
way out of the engineering bubble to challenge my preconceptions, widen my mind, and
make friends worldwide – including in Kuala Lumpur. Having been a chair at AYIMUN
2020, I could not be happier to be returning.

I want to address particularly those of you new to Model United Nations. You have opened
the door to a global community that allows you to hone your skills and connect with the
world. But opening a door doesn't get you into the room. I invite you to try yourself out
boldly and fearlessly. To speak up, debate, and embrace the magic of trying something new.
The chair team and I will be there to accompany you.

Should you have any questions before, during, or after the conference, please get in touch
with me through Jonas.bruns@mymun.com.

I wish you a fantastic time in Kuala Lumpur.

Jonas Bruns
AYIMUN 13th Secretary General

INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL NETWORK

International Global Network is a youth development organisation established

with the aim of bringing together youth from every part of the world to
cooperate with each other in business, technical, cultural, and social
movements. Enforcing the vision of “Connecting Dreams”, IGN creates
international programs to grant young generations the opportunity to unite and
network in a forum to develop global thinking with a view to raise global
awareness and build their skills.

Since its establishment, IGN has successfully conducted various programs such
as Youth Excursion, Asia Student Summit, Leaderpreneur Summit, Sasambo
Greenation Camp, and Korea International Culture and Education. The
programs’ objectives are to provide platforms for the youth (especially in Asia),
to explore ideas ranging from leadership, education, entrepreneurship,
environment, and culture. These programs have allowed the participants to
acquire knowledge directly through symposiums, university/company visit, site
research, and group presentation with an excursion concept. In 2017, IGN
started its first Model United Nations (MUN) program known as Asia Youth
International MUN. Since then, IGN has continuously created more MUN
programs such as Global Goals MUN, Asia World MUN, and Bali International
MUN. From IGN programs, IGN hopes that youth can contribute to initiating
changes and transforming the world into a better place.

ASIA YOUTH INTERNATIONAL
MODEL UNITED NATIONS (AYIMUN)

Model United Nations is a simulation of a United Nations Conference attended

by young leaders, referred to as Delegates, who are assigned a country to
represent in one of the United Nations’ numerous committees with pre-set
topics to debate. It is also a platform where young leaders from all over the
world gather in one place with a similar aim, that is to improve their skills in
leadership, negotiation, and diplomacy. All these skills can be obtained by
joining and participating in the Asia Youth International Model United Nations
(AYIMUN) 13th.

Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) aims to facilitate

young leaders from different places to broaden their networks and to provide a
platform to share their perspectives, particularly on current global issues that
will be discussed in each council.

The delegates will have discussions on the mentioned issues for each goal and
will be guided directly by the Board of Director. Therefore, Asia Youth
International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) 13th will be an excellent choice
for young leaders who wish to enhance and develop their capabilities in
communication and diplomacy skills.

4

be the opportunities to have fun with people from around the world.

D. Diplomacy
By learning through practice about diplomacy at MUN, the delegates will
become more knowledgeable and experienced in conducting negotiations
between the two groups in a tactful and result-oriented manner.

E. Leadership
By joining a MUN conference as a delegate, or in other words as a
representative of a country, it can help to improve their leadership skills,
especially in making a decision as a future leader. The experiences they
