Sub: Grade 10 – ORIENTATION (2024 - 2025)

SCHOOL TIMINGS
● Reporting time to school is 8.10 a.m. After 8.15 a.m. the students will be marked
as late.
● Students using private vehicles should reach school by 7.45 a.m. to avoid traffic
congestion. They must alight 100m away from school. The students will not be
allowed to alight at the school gate.
● Parents are encouraged to follow the one way traffic rules in Raheja Vihar.
● After the third late mark the students will be sent home.

DISCIPLINE
• The School follows a zero tolerance policy towards bullying.
• Bullying: Any kind of name calling, teasing, physical attack, rude &
disrespectful behaviour counts as bullying. If a child is accused of any of the
above, the incident will be first verified. If found guilty, strict action will be
taken against the child.

NOTE
• Attendance on the first and last day of school is very important as per school
policy.
• In case, leave is required prior permission from the Principal must be sought.
• Leaves may be planned keeping in mind the school schedules.
• Kindly read and abide with all the rules given in the School handbook.
• In case of an unforeseen holiday, the school may decide to keep the following
Saturday as a working day.
• Special classes may happen on Saturdays in order to complete the portion.
Attendance for the same is compulsory.
• Please note that the Syllabus and Time Table will be uploaded on the School
website as PDF format.

STUDY TIME FOR THE CHILDREN

● Students are more successful in school when parents take an active interest in
their work.
● Schedule a regular study time.
● Keep the distractions to a minimum. This means no T.V. or phone calls during
study time.
● Please get involved in your ward’s academics. Make yourself available for
his/her questions and concerns.
● Praise his/her work and recognize their efforts.
• Regular reading and writing is encouraged for Hindi.

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STAFF MEMBERS

• Private Tuitions: Parents are requested not to approach our school teachers
for both academic and non- academic subjects like performing arts and music
for tutoring their children privately as this is not permitted.
• Students are prohibited from gifting their teachers with expensive chocolates,
flowers/gifts.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
● Students should wear the full PT uniform or the full school uniform on
designated days of the Timetable.
● PT uniform to be worn on the days the students have PT periods.
● Please approach the uniform vendors for the buying of track pants which have
been specially designed as per the School’s requirements. No other colour or
pattern will be allowed.
● Students will wear their winter jackets/cardigans as approved by the school. No
other colours/patterns will be allowed.
● Shoes: During monsoon students may wear all season black shoes with white
socks (mid-calf length). Ankle length/colourful socks are not allowed. Only
Crocs (black) will be allowed during monsoon.
● White sport/canvas shoes with white laces and white socks after the monsoon
with PT uniform.
● Hair- Girls: Two plaits/two pony tails (hair above shoulder length). No fringes
allowed. Boys: Hair uniformly short and neatly combed.
● School badge/ID card to be worn at all times.
● Nail polish/tattoos/ mehendi/ jewellery (rings/ flashy earrings) are not
permitted.
● Watches (1-5): Watches are not allowed for students of Grades 1 to 5.
● Watches (6-10): ONLY analogue watches (Black/Silver Straps) are allowed.
Students of Grades 6-10 must be dressed in their School uniform on
Birthdays too. All Grades however can distribute sweets worth upto Rs.20/-.
Alternatively, they can also distribute stationery products that is of use to
others.
● Students are discouraged from getting expensive chocolates for the staff.
● If the above is not adhered to, they will be sent home.

COMMUNICATION WITH THE SCHOOL


● Parents, please note that any call made to the school should be made during
the time mentioned in the school diary.
● Please reveal your full name, your ward’s name, class and section at the start
of your conversation.
● Please keep your conversation polite and brief.
● All correspondence to the school should be addressed to the Principal only.
However, leave notes should be addressed to the Class teacher & Coordinator
only.
● Please correspond with the School through email regarding leave-taking and
other such requests.
● Any other matter should be addressed to the Principal.
● Should there be any matter of urgency, the PTA representative may be
contacted.
● Any request made for a certificate (transfer, bonafide etc) will require 7 working
days for the school to process the same.

ONLINE SCHOOL
● In case of heavy rains/transport strikes, the classes will be conducted
online. An intimation regarding the same will be done via a circular and
whatsapp message to the PTA.
● Regular Time table will be followed during such an arrangement.

SUBJECT WISE DETAILS

MARATHI
● This subject is a Graded subject.
● Only one exam for the first term will be conducted for 40 marks and will be
graded accordingly.
● It will not be tested for the ICSE examinations.

CLASS PREP
● For English Language, customised worksheets made by the teachers will be
uploaded to Google Classroom.
(Note: These worksheets are not available in any store.)
● Regular homework will be given in English Language, Hindi and Mathematics.
Students MUST ensure that the homework is done regularly as it will aid in
consolidating learning.
● Answer Keys, PPTs of certain topics and ICSE guidelines will be uploaded to
Google Classroom.
● Written work will be assessed at regular intervals. Wherever necessary,
corrections & recommendations will be made.
● Demonstration of activities based on concepts taught in class will be done
(Science).

SCIENCE - PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY

● Students will be assessed regularly for their laboratory activities and journal
work.
● Practicals will be conducted regularly.
● Journal work will be given at regular intervals and students are expected to
complete them as per the submission dates that will be given.
● Without Lab coat, entry into the chemistry lab is prohibited.

SUPW

● SUPW is a compulsory subject at the ICSE level. Students are expected to devote
some time to doing work that would benefit society. In this regard, it has been
decided that Grade 10 students must render at least 20 hours of community
work during the academic year.
● A detailed circular will follow regarding the above.

Note:
• Students of Economics must leave the school at 2:20 p.m. on these days
according to the dispersal timing.
• A mail should be sent if they are availing the bus service.
• Grade 10 EVS students have class on Monday in the 9th period and so they
will be dispersed at 2:20 p.m.

ABSENTEEISM DURING EXAMINATION

● Please note that if a child is absent during the exams/projects, he/she will be
marked AB(Absent) for the same.
● Incase the child is absent on account of sickness, he/she will be marked SL.
(Sick Leave)
● Parents must avoid sending their wards to school if they are unwell. Please do
not expect the school to make concessions for these cases such as separate
seating, and/or being allowed to go home as soon as the paper is done. If a child
who is unwell is being sent to school despite these warnings, the parents will be
definitely addressed.
● In this case, please note that an average will NOT be calculated for the
assessments.

PREPARATION FOR ASSESSMENTS

• In order to inculcate regular study habits, Question bank for each chapter will
be uploaded after the completion of the chapter. This will be done for all the
subjects in order to facilitate self study and revision.
• Study leave for a day or two will be given before the Term and Final exam. This
will be done in lieu of Revision week.
• A week prior to the exams, students are welcome to get their doubts clarified by
the teachers.

BRIDGING THE GAP


● Should there be any gap in learning, the school will call for a meeting with the
parents so that a comprehensive plan may be worked out to help the child
improve or progress at his/her pace.
● Additionally, in case the child is exhibiting behavioural concerns, parents will
be called to address the same.
