SAFE EXAM BROWSER INSTALLATION

1. In case the Anti-Virus is preventing the download of the Safe Exam

Browser.

The anti-virus setting is not allowing SEB files to be downloaded or installed.

Disable any Anti-virus or windows in-built antivirus protection before installing the
SEB. To disable windows security

If you have any custom anti- virus, try to allow SEB or disable the anti-virus
completely for some time.

2.Error: “The active display configuration is not
permitted”

Disconnect the additional display(example: external screen/ monitor) which is

connected to the system. Safe Exam Browser will work

3.In case you are getting any error similar to below mentioned
(Failed to start a new session error)

The files described in the dialog box need to be shared with the Program Manager(via
email/support ticket) to help debug the issue. You can find the logs in the following
folders.

Windows : C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\SafeExamBrowser\Logs
Mac : /Users/{username}/Library/Logs/Safe Exam Browser

4.Laptop restricting the SEB Software: If you are facing any

issues of which are similar to the one mentioned below

It happens if a safe exam browser has been opened directly once after installed. Please
launch it from the olympus. It will work as expected.

5. Something went wrong Error

This happens when the session expires or the learner logging out elsewhere.
To avoid facing this issue,
- Before starting the exam, please logout and login once.
- Make sure not to log-in or log-out from any system, when giving the exam
6. In case you are getting message in dialog box which states: SEB
Not in Application Folder problem

Solution: SEB needs to be installed in the Applications folder. It will not launch if it is
placed anywhere else.
In mac os, the only thing that we have to make sure of is to move the application in the Application
folder. Here is the reference video

There is room for confusion though since there's sometimes an Applications-folder in the
user's home directory. This is not the correct one, it should be the system's Applications
folder.
7. Setup failed Error

If the error persists, even though there is enough space, then install the below mentioned softwares in the
following order.

8. Configuration Error

If such a configuration error occurs while launching the safe exam browser directly, Please login to Olympus in a
different browser like Firefox and try to launch the safe exam browser. It will download a file (xxx.seb) and
clicking on this will launch the exam.
