Call for Application for SoEng Students Internship Funds!


The School of Engineering at CEDAT through financial support of the UNESCO-China Funds-in-Trust (CFIT
III) Project calls for students in the Departments of Civil & Environmental Engineering; Electrical &
Computer Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering that are currently doing their industrial placement
internship to apply for funding under any of the following three categories. The maximum funding for each
student has been enclosed in brackets. Please note that a maximum of 10, 8, and 5 students will be selected
for the respective three categories.

1. Professional Development (UGX 300,000)


a. Detail your industrial training or career goals and how this internship fund will help you
achieve them.
b. Demonstrate a gap in your current funding and how this particular fund would be helpful.
2. Community Impact (UGX 500,000)
a. Provide a plan demonstrating how you intend to extend services of your industrial training
Company/Institution/Trainer to the nearby communities.
b. Detail the envisaged positive impacts on communities.
3. Innovation and Creativity (UGX 750,000)
a. Present a proposal for improving processes at your current training facility.
b. This proposal will result in your final year project.

How to Apply
a) Compile a CV (2 pages max.) that includes your academic qualifications, work/training experience,
relevant extracurricular activities, and industrial training and academic referees.
b) Latest academic testimonial.
c) Write a personal statement (1 page) detailing your objectives for applying for funding, how it aligns
with your study, training and career aspirations, and why you should be considered for the
placement funds.
d) Provide no more than two pages of the technical and financial proposal of how you intend to use
the funds.
e) Submit all documents as one PDF by the 12th of July 2024 at cedat.soe@mak.ac.ug and with copy
to francis.mujjuni@mak.ac.ug. Make the subject of the email “SoEng Students Internship
Funds”.
f) Successful candidates will be notified by the 24th of July 2024.
