PAGPAPALIWANAG (RATIONALE)
Ang Tara Basa Tutoring Program ng Department of Social Welfare and Development
(DSWD) ay isang programa na naglalayong labanan ang intergenerational cycle of
poverty sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng oportunidad sa mga bata mula sa mga
mahihirap na pamilya na matuto ng pagbabasa. Sa pamamagitan ng Tara Basa!
Tutoring Program, nais nating bigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga bata na galing sa
mga mahihirap na pamilya na magkaroon ng mahusay na pundasyon sa pagbasa,
na siyang susi sa kanilang hinaharap na tagumpay. Ayon sa pananaliksik ng Asian
Development Bank o ADB noong 2009, malaki ang porsento ng mga pamilyang
mahihirap ang hindi nakapag tapos lamang sa elementarya. Ang pagkamit ng
mababang pormal na edukasyon ay nagiging sanhi ng kahirapan, at gayunpaman,
ang kahirapan ay nakakapigil ng pagkamit ng mataas na pormal na edukasyon.Sa
kabila ng mga hamon na dulot ng kahirapan at mataas na halaga ng edukasyon,
patuloy pa rin nating ipinaglalaban ang karapatan ng bawat bata na magkaroon ng
pantay-pantay na access sa edukasyon. Bilang tugon dito, binuo natin ang Tara,
Basa! Tutoring Program upang magbigay ng libreng tulong sa pagbasa sa mga bata
mula sa mga pamilyang hindi kayang magbayad ng mataas na halaga ng
edukasyon.
Ang Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program ay hindi lamang naglalayong tulungan ang mga
batang mag-aaral, kundi pati na rin ang mga tutors mula sa mga pamilyang nasa
laylayan ng lipunan. Ayon sa mga pagsasaliksik, 83.7% ng mga mag-aaral sa
kolehiyo ay hindi nakapagtapos dahil sa mataas na halaga ng edukasyon. Ang mga
tutors na kalahok sa Tara Basa Tutoring Program ay binibigyan ng pagkakataon na
mapalawak ang kanilang kaalaman sa pagtuturo habang nakakatulong sa kanilang
mga kapwa. Sa pamamagitan nito, sila ay nabibigyan ng oportunidad na
makapagpatuloy sa kanilang pag-aaral at magkaroon ng mas magandang
kinabukasan.

Ang unang bahagi ng Guidebook para sa mga Tutor ay tungkol sa Filipino dahil
mahalaga para sa mga batang mag-aaral na matuto na magbasa sa pamamagitan
ng isang wika na kanilang nauunawaan. Ang mga pangunahing kasanayan sa
pagbasa na itinuturo sa isang wika na nauunawaan ng mga bata ay maililipat sa
ibang wika. Ang pag-aaral na magbasa sa isang wika na nauunawaan ng bata ay
maaaring gawing mas kawili-wili, masaya, at makabuluhan ang proseso.

Mahalagang Paalala
Sa mga Rehiyon ng Visayas at Mindanao na kung saan nahihirapan ang mga
elementary students sa Filipino, maaaring laktawan ang Filipino Lessons at
magsimula na sa English Lessons.
Ang mga Grade Ready at Light Refreshers ay hindi kasama sa target beneficiairies
ng Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program.

MGA TIP SA PAMAMAHALA NG SILID ARALAN
(CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT TIPS)
1. Kilalanin ang iyong mga estudyante (alamin ang kanilang buong pangalan,
palayaw, edad, kaarawan, baitang, paaralan, at tagasundo).
2. Magtakda ng mga patakaran sa klase sa unang araw:
● Humingi ng permiso kung nais lumabas ng silid-aralan.
● Huwag maging late.
● Itaas ang kamay kapag gustong sumagot.
● Dalhin ang lapis, papel, workbook, at baon.
● Huwag mag-iingay, parating makinig sa guro.
3. Iba-ibahin ang mga aktibidad para mapanatili ang interes ng mga estudyante
sa aralin.
4. Maging mabait pero mahigpit. Ipatupad ang mga patakaran ng patas.
5. Palakasin ang partisipasyon ng mga estudyante sa pamamagitan ng
maraming drills, laro, pagsusulat, at pagkakataong magsalita sa klase.
6. Itigil ang aralin kapag naging magulo o maingay ang klase. Patahimikin muna
sila bago ituloy ang aralin.
7. Magbigay ng malinaw at simpleng mga direksyon o panuto bago magsimula
ang isang gawain.
8. Magbigay ng maikling pahinga pagkatapos ng isang oras na sesyon.
9. Maging mapagmatyag. Tawagin ang atensyon ng mga estudyanteng hindi
nakikinig.

Point to each letter as you sing the tune. Choose a letter. Ask the students

Lesson 3: Beginning Letter Ss
1. Show them the picture of a sun and say ‘this is a sun’, with emphasis on
the sound of the letter Ss.
2. Look for a song that contains words with letter Ss with emphasis on the
sound of letter Ss. Sing with the students using the song. Let them
emphasize the sound of the letter Ss.
3. Show objects or pictures that begin with the letter Ss. (ex. salt, soil, sack,
sand, seed, soap, sock, etc)
