banking unclaimed deposits
 The Reserve Bank of India
announced a '100 Day 100 Pay'
campaign for banks to trace the
top 100 unclaimed deposits of each
bank in every district of the
country and settle them within 100
days. The Reserve Bank of India will
start the campaign from June 1,
2023.

 Balances in savings/current
accounts not operated for 10 years,
or fixed deposits not claimed
within 10 years from the date of
maturity, are classified as
"unclaimed deposits".
 These amounts are transferred by
the banks to the "Depositor
Education and Awareness" (DEA)
Fund created by the Reserve Bank
of India.
 This measure will complement the
ongoing efforts and initiatives by
the Reserve Bank to reduce the
quantum of unclaimed deposits in
the banking system and return
such deposits to their rightful
owners/claimants.
 Recently, RBI has also announced
the setting up of a centralized web
portal for the public to search for
unclaimed deposits in several
banks.
