 Different manufacturing units in Atlanta Electrical.

About company: an overview

 Atlanta Electricals Pvt. Ltd. manufacturing Power, Distribution & Special application
type of transformers.
 Having ISO9001-2008 from NABCB, ISO 14001-2004 & OHSAS 18001-2007
certification
 The manufacturing 'all-in-one' facility at Vitthal Udhyognagar works cover 26000
square meter land and 7000 Square meters built up area with a production capacity of
7000MVA per annum.
 Power Transformers, Furnace Transformers, Inverter Duty Transformers, Mobile
Substation, Testing Transformer, Special Application Transformer.
WHAT IS TRANSFORMER ?
 Electrical Power Transformer is a static device which transforms electrical energy from one
circuit to another without any direct electrical connection and with the help of mutual induction
between two windings.
 It transforms power from one circuit to another without changing its frequency but may be in
different voltage level.
 In short Transformer is an apparatus for reducing or increasing the voltage of an alternating
current.
Working principle of transformer

 The transformer works on the principle of MUTUAL INDUCTION‘.

 An alternating flux in the primary coil will create an alternating flux in the transformer
core, which is linked with the other coil which produces a mutually induced EMF
according to faraday‘s laws of electromagnetic induction.
Component of transformer

 Laminated core  Tap changer

 Windings  Buchholz relay
 Insulating material  Oil conservator
 Tank  Explosion vent
 Terminals and bushings  Breather
 Transformer oil  Radiator and fan

Winding of transformer
Construction:
 Copper Is The Preferred Material For Winding As It Has
Excellent Electrical Properties.
 The Windings Are Made On The Winding Machines Which
Can Be Horizontal Or Vertical.
 The Copper Conductor Is Wound Around A Former Of
Required Size.
 Pressboard Cylinders Are Wound Over The Former.
 The Number Of Turns And The Locations Of Transpositions
Are As Per Drawing.
 The Type Of Winding Is Determined By Design.
 Four Different Types Of Winding Are Constructed:
Core assembly
 The core is made from thin sheet of ‘Cold rolled grain oriented steel’ (CRGO)
sheets. These thin sheets or laminations are then assembled together to
provide a easy path for the flux so as to have high.
 coupling between the primary and secondary windings
 The laminations are held in place by the clamp plates or end frames.
Core assembly
Core Coil Assembly
 After the insertion of the windings on the core, the top yoke is filled up to complete the magnetic
circuit.
 The connections to the tap-changer is made using copper cables, bus bars etc.
 Proper support for the leads / bus bars is provided
 The connections to the bushings is made using cables / bus bars.
 Care is taken so as to ensure that it withstands the SC force
Drying Process & Tanking
 After the assembly of the core & coil (CCA), the same is dried in special ovens / VPD
chambers to remove the moisture.

 After the drying process is completed, the CCA is taken out of the oven and the coils
are pressed under hot condition.

 The complete CCA is then inserted into the tank. After tanking, the bushings and other
accessories are fitted vacuum is applied and maintained as required.

 Processed oil is then filled under vacuum and hot oil circulation is done The job is then
offered for testing as per the requirement of the relevant standards
Testing
 Test laboratory for conducting all routine tests and temperature rise test in accordance with
Indian & International Standards.

 Arrangement can also be made to carry out relevant type tests, if required, at recognized
laboratories.

 DIFFERENT TEST CONDUTS IN ATLANTA ELECTRICALS:

1. Partial discharge test

2. Noise level measurement
3. Temperature rise test
4. Harmonic measurement & analysis
5. SFRA Test
6. Tan delta and capacitance measurement
Dispatch
 After the testing and obtaining dispatch clearance from customer, the transformer is
made ready for dispatch.

 All the components as per the transport drawing is fitted.

 Balance will be dispatched as loose material as per the packing list.

 During dispatch care must be taken to lash the transformer properly.

 All lose material to be carefully packed to avoid damage.
