Lesson 6 Demo 1

Backup Azure File shares

Objective: To create Virtual Network in the Azure portal

Tools required: Azure account with administrator access

Prerequisites: None

Steps to be followed:
1. Configuring a storage account with file share
2. Creating a Recovery Services vault
3. Configuring file share backup
4. Verifying the file share backup

Step 1: Configuring storage account with file share


1.1 Sign in to Azure Portal.
1.2 Locate the Storage accounts resource.

1.3 Select Create.


1.4 In the Basics tab, provide the below details:
● Subscription
● Resource group

● Storage account name

● Region

● Redundancy
1.5 Click Create.
1.6 Go to the storage account created.
1.7 Click on File shares and create a file share.
Step 2: Creating a Recovery Services vault
2.1 Locate the Recovery Services Vaults.

2.2 Select Create.


2.3 Provide details per the image below:
2.4 Click Create.

Step 3: Configuring file share backup


3.1 Open Recovery Services Vaults.
3.2 Click Backup and create a new backup instance.
3.3 From Where is your workload running? drop-down menu, select Azure.
3.4 From What do you want to back up? menu, select Azure File Share.
3.5 Click on Backup.

3.6 Select the Storage Account and Click OK.


3.7 Click on Add and select the file share.
3.8 In the Select file shares page, select the file shares and Click OK.
3.9 Click on Edit this policy, provide Name, Schedule and retention information. Click OK.
3.10 Finally, click Enable Backup.

Step 4: Verifying File Share Backup


4.1 Go to the Recovery Service Vault.
4.2 Select Backup items, click on Azure Storage (Azure Files).
After completing this demo, you will be able to successfully take the backup of the Azure file
share created under the Azure storage account.
